Hi, I have applied for 2 jobs and the nurse recruiters have said that they have submitted it to the nurse managers... yet i havent receive any phonecall or interview request.. are they just saying that so they can get me off their back? should I drop by the unit's manager office and introduce my self?

There is a defined process for employment these days - because of the need to comply with Federal hiring regulations. "Jumping line" probably won't get you anywhere. It's such a hassle that most organizations are trying to automate it to decrease the workload.. unfortunately, there are a lot of crappy automated systems.

Human Resources are the gate keepers.. and that's where the recruiters work. They have very specific 'stuff' they have to keep track of. Managers basically get in trouble if they see any 'off the street' applicants that have not been cleared by HR. Unfortunately, the process involves a lot of hand-offs and this is where the breakdowns occur. Once the recruiter has handed off to the manager, their hands are tied until they hear back from the manager. The manager has to let them know (and fill out a ton of paperwork) about each interview that took place, and who they want to hire. Then HR has to formally notify the candidate & make the job offer. Once you accept the job, then HR does all the background screening (costs about $500 these days) that clear you for employment.

Organizations have to keep employment process records and turn in all kinds of statistics each year to show they are complying with Federal, State & local regulations. Nothing is simple.

Thanks alot! I was kinda thinking the samething.. recruiters could only submit some potential candidates to the managers.. It's up to the managers if they want to give u a try.. now how can I make the managers want to hire me is a different story...

some people suggest like popping in the managers office to put a face on application but I dont want to overstep any boundaries or reck my whole chance of getting hired.

Thanks again! your answer was very helpful!
