Is it time to go...and if so where and how?

Nurses Career Support

Published

hello,

i have been on an ortho/trauma floor for over a year. this is my first and only experience as a nurse (graduated 5/06). i am ready for a change and some new experience. however, i moved to the area to start working here and have heard that the other two hospitals in the area are horrible and therefore am reluctant to change.

so my questions is this? :uhoh3: how do i pick another floor/hospital? the current management is horrible :angryfire. she doesn't back the nurses and allows the pcts, secretaries to get away with anything. how do i pick a new job with a strong management and good work compatibility?

thanks

Volunteer to get pulled to other floors. Working on other floors will enable you to get a feel of how they work, and you can ask the staff how what they like/dislike about working there. Then keep an eye on the job openings on the floors you like, and snatch one up when it comes along. I've done this before, and it worked for me.

Consider travel nursing, huge perks, googled travel nursing agencies, , with your experience . I'm sure their is something out there to picque your interest, I did it for 4 years, loved it, good luck..:welcome:
