Help please, resume objective

I'm applying for a charge nurse position (which I have really wanted for awhile) and while I know I have all the skills to succeed and am doing a panel interview with colleagues that I feel I have proven myself to, I still really want to have my resume look as appealing as possible.

I'm having a very difficult time formulating an objective statement that I feel accurately represents why I want the job and why I feel they should want me for the position. I would really welcome any critiques! I do feel that this objective explains why I want the job, but am unsure how it comes across to others and if it says enough about my understanding of the charge nurse role (I have filled in as charge nurse, so I do know the role) but don't feel that putting down coordinating patient assignments, staffing and paperwork accurately describes why I find the job appealing.

Does the employer ask for an objective statement? I was under the impression that objective statements are a thing of the past. It is pretty obvious why people seek jobs.

I think talking about your experience, credentials and potential contributions will be more valuable than dedicating a couple lines about what you want.

I haven't put an objective on my resume since I was a new grad back in the 1970's.

Write a good, brief cover letter instead.

No one includes an objective on resumes these days. It's an outmoded practice. It's pretty obvious that your objective is to get the job for which you are applying!

I agree with the above statements about objective statements are a thing of the past. With the current job market you need to convey what exactly you will do for the company and in that position. Instead of the objective statement have a sell yourself summary. Also, think about adding an expertise box next to the summary.
