Endorsement vs. CA Examination. I am moving to CA after graduation.

Hi all. I will be graduating in December and should be able to sit for the NCLEX in January. I am moving to CA and am wondering if anyone knows whether I would be better off taking the NCLEX in my home state and then applying for a CA license by endorsement or better off taking the NCLEX in CA.

I have heard that the endorsement route might actually be a little quicker (it is definitely more expensive). Any help would be great. Thanks for your time.

It might come down to your other circumstances. Do you have a job waiting in CA? Or at least financial support and a place to live? I became licensed in another state and endorsed to CA. I found CA to be slow and non-communicative, but I was eventually successful. I'm not sure how the difficulty level changes with being an out of state new grad.

How can it possibly be quicker to apply for licensure in one state, wait to get it, and then apply for endorsement in a second state, as opposed to simply applying for initial licensure in the second state? And, as you note, you would be paying for a license you have no intention of using. What's the point?
