Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello, I am a third year business major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I am concentrating in human resources and have a 3.9 GPA. Recently, while interning with Siemens healthcare, I have decided to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse.

1. What is the best, fastest and cheapest way to become an RN once I have a BA in Business?

You can apply to an accelerated BSN since you already have a degree but you will need to complete the prerequisites for a BSN first.

Every time some here asks this (which is fairly often), I am reminded of the classic engineering "triple constraint" -- "Good, fast, and cheap -- pick any two." (I.e., you can't have all three, it's not realistically possible).

If it's good and fast, it won't be cheap. If it's good and cheap, it won't be fast. If it's fast and cheap, it won't be good.

Elkpark - you did it again! Priceless advice.

OP - what was it about nursing that convinced you that this was the way to go? I would imagine that your internship provided you with some (very limited) awareness of health care technology... maybe informatics? If you only saw nurses working in advanced roles, you do not have a realistic picture.
