migrating to Australia from US

June/July is winter here - the weather depends on whereabouts you're planning on living. In Queensland it will be warm but wet, NT and WA will be warmer and mostly dry, the rest of the country is pretty much cool/cold and wet. No snow unless you live in the mountains (eastern states only).

that is because the only thing between you and the antartic is a couple of frozen Tasmanians and a penguin or two:D

But honestly if you come to QLD you will be gob smacked to see people rugging up in coats when it is anything less than 27 degrees Centigrade:p Basically we just about have a climate for everyone somewhere - come on over and have a blast!!

there is a big shortage of nurses everywhere in australia..You can go anywhere. You can even walk in any hospital and fill up an application form and i guarantee that u will get a call the next day. Even you've only got one year experience.

I am an RN in Hawaii. My wife and I are going to be migrating to Australia in the near future.She has a UK RN and I just recieved my ok from the ANC. I am interesed in info about nursing in WA , SA , or VIC. I would like to get an idea of working conditions in the different states. Esp. I want to know if there are any nursing jobs open.

We are looking at southern Australia because my wife is tired of "no seasons"

My wife and I are originaly from New England on the mainland USA.

I have been issued my General RN by SA

I am still waiting for a reply from DIMA , but I will take this as a good omen

I hope to be celebrating Christmas down under this year

Congratulations! You should have no problems with DIMIA . Remember, if it gets too cold for you in SA, there's always Qld.

Congrats on coming downunder - for weather - take an umbrella, jumper and tshirt everywhere you go - just in case...... Registration in Australia is wonderful as mutual recognition means that once registered in one state - it is a form & fee to be registered in another state. About 20 yrs ago seperate registrations for different specialties (ie peads, psych etc) where all roled into the general RN training... so an RN is an RN is an RN - except if you are a midwife - they keep to themselves and need seperate registration. Don't completely knock back rural or remote nursing - there are more things than kangaroos..... flies, frill necks, snakes and goannas are also out there... plus you will get extra leave & travel money for remote postings (2months plus leave per year isnt bad...)
