Nurses Share Your Empowering Scriptures :)

Nurses Spirituality

Published

Hello allnurses :)

I can't tell you how happy I am that this forum has been created. I'm still learning my way around since the upgrade.

I was hoping the Christian nurses on this site could post some of the scriptures they read that has helped them in the hospital, school, clinicals ect. The power of prayer and reading certain scriptures have empowered me through nursing school & in my new career. I also encourage us to pray not only for one another, but for our patients, managers, administrators, and those that try to do us harm as this is my new commitment this year.

So I will start.........

Mark 11:24- "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, & ye shall have them." (KJV)

I read this scripture everyday & wrote it on my white board while preparing for the NCLEX :)

Matthew 5:44 " But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully persecute you." (KJV)

Matthew 5:46- " For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? (" (KJV)

I'm guilty of praying mostly for those I love, but my new mission is to devote more prayer to those I don't know very well & even people that mean me harm. Its easy to pray for those I love. This is great when dealing with a difficult co-worker/ patient :)

Galatians 6:17 "From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus." (KJV)

Another member of allnurses.com referred me to this scripture, this is my new favorite scripture :)

I hope these scriptures empower someone else as they have done in my life. I look forward to reading some that encourage other nurses and being encouraged :)

I have many, but let these encourage you.

Jeremiah 29:11-

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV)

Philipians 4:13-

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (KJV)

2 Chronicles 15:7-

Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded. (KJV)

This is such a blessing to see all of the nurses on here share the scriptures that have helped them in life. I have read all of the posts & have been encouraged by each and everyone's scriptures. I even had my husband read them & he was very grateful to see there are people willing to share how the Lord has brought them out of certain obstacles. I was actually going to write my post yesterday, but the website was down. I'm not sure if anyone else had that problem, but I tried numerous times to access the website and I was unsuccessful. I had to take a step back and realize that the enemy is lurking and doesn't want us to post our scriptures. Which tells me there is someone that will read this forum and their life will be changed for the better :)

Isaiah 54:17

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, & every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord." (KJV)

This scripture helps me remember that there is no need for worry, doubt & fear, because the Lord protects us & no man has control over God's plan.

Matthew 7:14-15

"Because strait is the gait and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that findeth. Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are raving wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits" (KJV)

This scripture helps me remember that not everyone that represents the word of God mean good, the fruits that people exhibit ultimately determine their character & spirit. Moreover it keeps me knowing that this world is a difficult walk and we need to walk it with Jesus Christ and while walking wear his fruits within us.

Galatians 5:22

" But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." (KJV)

I encourage everyone to continue to post their scripture & even if you don't have a scripture I encourage you to give your testimony bearing witness to the greatness of our Lord Jesus Christ :)

I think this thread is great! I am not a nurse, but am hoping to be one. I have posted on this site recently about making a career change. I'm a 32 yr old male, married to a wonderful wife who is studying to become an RN. She will be done in 8 months. And both of my sisters are nurses as well. I have been working in the banking world for about 6 years now and probably chose my career path for all the wrong reasons. I finished my MBA a couple years ago. My wife and I recently have become much closer to Christ and have trusted in Him and His faith to lead us through life. I'm not sure why I chose my current profession. I think because of the monetary compensation. I have been struggling with my current profession pretty much ever since I first started. Struggling in the sense that I just haven't felt "right". And the more I rely and trust in Christ, I have been drawn toward the idea of becoming a nurse. I've grappled with my own thoughts on this issue, discovered this blog and have seen the overwhelming posts on how nursing is not the career it's built up to be and have consulted with my wife as well as my sisters and family. You see, I can get everyone's opinion in the world to help me make a decision, but all I need is just one. In my line of work, it's very seldom you run across a fellow Christian. The corporate world is almost completely void of any Christian values and it can be very rewarding monetarily, but very discouraging spiritually. I have turned to the Bible to help me through this decision and it just amazes me how powerful Christ is in us if we just put our trust in Him. I know nursing will be extremely difficult and discouraging at times and a far cry from sitting in my own office, staring at a computer screen and talking to wealthy clients. But there is a reason why I'm being drawn towards this profession and for that, I have to rely on His faith and not my own. Some scriptures I have found very helpful to help me through my decision are:

Ephesians 6:16-17

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

2 Corinthians 5:7

7(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Galatians 2:20 (my favorite :))

20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

1 Corinthians 2:5

5That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

FSUNurse2b,

Your post is very encouraging :) I hope you continue to pray for guidance, but it sounds like the Lord is opening your eyes now that you are much closer to Him. There is a clear division between the rich and the poor in the bible. We are rich through Christ Jesus, the riches of this world mean nothing to Him. Nursing is a wonderful profession, we need more men & nurses that practice with faith and trust in God. A few of my favorit scriptures related to this topic.....

Proverbs 11:28

"He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch." (KJV)

Psalms 25:9

"But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." (KJV)

Matthew 19:23-24

"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." (KJV)

wife&mommyRN,

Yes, I pray for guidance every day! It is difficult to put in words how wonderful it is to be led and to understand those things which are spiritual. The world will make you feel discouraged at times and this is a good verse in times like that:

1 Corinthians 2:14

14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

And I pray that we all can say what Paul said towards the end of his ministry:

2 Timothy 4:7-8

7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Your post was also encouraging, thank you! I do question why the Lord led me to the world of finance, but perhaps it was simply the world leading me. To be able to distinguish between the two, now that is a gift!

I am moved by the following from the Navajo tradition:

In beauty I walk.

With beauty before me, I walk.

With beauty behind me, I walk.

With beauty below me, I walk.

With beauty above me, I walk.

With beauty all around me, I walk.

It is finished in beauty,

It is finished in beauty,

It is finished in beauty,

It is finished in beauty.

'Sa'ah naaghéi, Bik'eh hózhó--from the Navajo Blessingway

In an odd way, it reminds of the great English mystic The Blessed Julian of Norwich. She wrote:"all shall be well. All shall be well. And everywhere, all manner of things shall be well."

At work and all around I am witness to the truth of great suffering. I like to remind myself that all suffering eventually ends. And that the Holy One has also provided us a world of great beauty and joy in addition to great suffering.

"God is our REFUGE and STRENGTH a very present help in the time of trouble....Therefore we will not fear though the earth be removed......The Lord of Hosts is with us...The God of Jacob is our REFUGE" Ps 46......With all that's going on in healthcare and in the world in general we have to fully trust the Lord to help us to help others and be the light that shines in a dark place...May He strengthen each one of us In Jesus' Name. Amen.

My name is Austin and I'm now 20 years old and always Ive wanted to do something in the medical field after high school but really wasn't sure what? My first chose was an X-ray tech and then massage therapist but those didn't work out for me. So my mom told me last October to go in her room and that we would pray about where God wants me to be for Him... About a month later I ran up to my mom crying with joy as she came home from work at the hospital and told her that God has told me that He has called me to become an LPN like you and that I'm called to heal and help the sick! She said that He will see it through and to not let nothing stop me from doing this.. We hugged and kissed each other and she said I have faith in you that you'll do great and I'm proud of you for doing what God wants you to do and that He has given you your job in the medical field just like you've wanted all along. :nurse: The last few months Jeremiah 29:11- For i know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. and 2 Chronicles 15:7- Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded. These scriptures have been coming up all over the place whether its notes of encouragement from my wonderful and loving mom or just random people I don't even know telling me them. I pray that God knows what He's doing with me and that when the time comes for me to start Fletcher community college for LPN that He will be right beside me seeing His wonderful plan through to the finish! Amen!! Please pray for me that I would have guidance and wisdom, and that I get the needed scores on my ACT which I know I will get them.

Hi fellow nurses! This thread inspired me to look for the best Bible verses for nurses, and here are some of my favorites:

Romans 15:1: We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

1Peter 5:7: Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

3John 2: Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

Matthew 5:13-16:You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. “Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck-measure, but on the lamp stand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

John 13:34-35: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this, all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Luke 10:30-35: Jesus replied and said, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went off leaving him half dead. “And by chance a certain priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. “And likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. “But a certain Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, and came to him, and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. “And on the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return, I will repay you.’

Hebrews 11:1: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen.”

Matthew 28:18-20: And Jesus came unto them and spoke saying “All power is given unto me in Heaven and in Earth. Go ye therefore into all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.

2Chronicles 15-7: Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

Exodus 2:7: Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women that she may nurse the child for you?”

Exodus 2:9: Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.

Genesis 24:56-59: He said to them, “Do not delay me, since the LORD has prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master.” And they said, “We will call the girl and consult her wishes.” Then they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” And she said, “I will go.”

1 Kings 3:21: “When I rose in the morning to nurse my son, behold, he was dead; but when I looked at him carefully in the morning, behold, he was not my son, whom I had borne.”

Matthew 5:44: “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully persecute you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Ephesians 6:10: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Psalm 28:7: The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

Psalm 71:6: From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you.

Isaiah 40:31: But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Wow, I had forgotten about this thread. It has really been a blessing to me today. My path has been curved, and it was an unexpected curve to say the least. Yet reading these posts/scriptures again has provided a soothing balm. I have my daily meditations and I wanted to again share a scripture that has been heavy on my mind:

I Corinthians 10:13: No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

It is my deepest hope that someone else can gain something from this thread as I have today. Thanks to all who posted.

35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
