Second guessing job exceptance

I had decided that I needed to relocate to get a hospital job.. Seemed like a great idea at the time. I got a job offer last week. I've started to really look into places to live. The numbers are turning out to be much higher then I early realized.

This will be a second household for my family. My husband currently does consulting and doesn't have a full time income even though he is currently looking. He and my daughter will be staying in our house. We have a fairly high mortgage and due to the fact we haven't had a real incomes don't have the ability to lower it.

I'm now second guessing the relocation idea - even if I only did it for a year or so.....

I'm not sure if I should just suck it up and figure it out or bow out before I actually start. I really loved the unit manager; working for her would probably be wonderful. It's just the housing that is an issue.....ahhh my head is spinning

I am a new mother/ new wife and dont see how relocating without my family would be beneficial. After it is all said and done does will your income after paying for the second home be worth the new job? Will you be able to save as much money as you thought you would be able to? If you arent really in a dier need to find a new job keep looking in your area. It might not be anytime soon but your pockets and relationship wont be hurt much by waiting.

I think the job will actually cost me money every month. Leaving the family would be less of a big deal if it was 3 12s but it's 5 8s. I'd only be 2hrs but it's not an easy drive. So, I couldn't make the drive everyday after my shift.

I just am so frustrated with my current job and I've tried for over a year to find a different position. I'll take anything. Haven't even gotten any interviews. It looked good and then after I verbally said yes it just doesn't seem like the right move. Now I have to figure out what to do.....

Oh no. If it is going to cost you more money then it wouldnt be very beneficial. I know you want to go to a hospital job but this one might not be it. Try redoing your resume and coverletter. Also find out the managers at the hospitals names/ contact info and call them!

Thanks I can't tell you how many times I have redone my resume. I finally had a professional review done....Unfortunately it is frowned upon in our area of going around the online application process. I have been told that a number of times by a number of different facilities. It's one thing to have an "IN" it's another to cold call the managers.

I just don't have any experience other then home care and they hospitals around me aren't willing to train....

Hmmm. Have you thought of going to a Long term care facility? Or maybe working for the state? That could be a stepping stone in the right direction and may not be a hospital job but it is closer then homecare and should help with the getting the hospital job.

I have applied at every LTC facility around - nothing, I've registered with the state. I have a number and in 3 weeks my position hasn't changed....they list jobs but doesn't look like they take from the pool for interviews.... I really have left no stone unturned....the relocation was a last resort...

I'm just going to have to really think about what I'm doing in the next few days.....really not fair if I put it off much longer.

Oh. With the state I was told you have to apply to every position that your are interested even when it says your on the public list.

No I applied to multiple positions it's just none seem to be changing the pool numbers except upwards as people register.

Have you tried to apply to methadone clinics? I feel really bad that you have to leave your family in order to get the job... Or, maybe, ask the manager if you can work part-time on the weekends? They might be short on the weekends, and it will be a good deal for them,

So you have decided to rescind your job acceptance? If you explain the financial situation and the housing issue, maybe it will allow you to avoid burning bridges. I would let them know soon though.
