The Wrong Approach to the Medical Crisis

The malpractice crisis will not be solved or, unfortunately, abated by the various efforts being undertaken in a number of states. The erstwhile legislation put forth by the Bush administration may help to limit the rates of escalating premiums, but will not change the nature of the problem. The fingers point in a circular direction from lawyer to doctor to insurance company and back. As long as the system provides the incentive for contingency payoffs and doctors go on making medical mistakes there will be no end to this societal flaw
