Four months ago managment cut staffing on my shift. All of our jobs suddenly got more difficult. My manager was forced to do this, she protested loudly but was over ridden by some accountant who was in charge of cutting cost. Myself and other staff members campaigned to get the cuts reversed as did our nurse manager. Our newest full time nurse left and we lost an excellent NA. The wages are below average where I work but it was such a nice place to work before the staffing cuts that there were never staffing problems. The staffing cuts cancelled out that benefit and we were beginning to lose people. Anyway, they have eased up and we have gone back to last years staffing pattern. Last night we had 25 patients and 6 staff to care for them. We all worked very hard but no one was overwhelmed and I did not leave with that feeling of dread that something had been missed.

When will they ever learn?

Really, don't they realize that cutting staff only hurts them in the end.
