lots of loops to jump thru. Your part is to do EXACTLY what they require. I know of only one nurse in our hospital who lost his license and that was not because he kept up the same behavior that got him on the program, but because he would not meet deadlines or complete forms accurately, etc. This is a program that allows you to control your future to some extent. I wish you much luck!

thank i do everything they tell me its been a long 2 yrs

In my state there is no alternative to discipline and the probation is almost always FIVE years---so count your blessings.

hello. im a lvn in texas and im in tpapn. i have 7months to go.. just do everything they tell you to do.. trust me.. if anyone is new to tpapn or has questions hit me up with a message..

6months to go!! should be done in March 2012...the program becomes routine after 4-5 months...i wish anybody and everybody luck in tpapn..

Can anyone that has participated in tpapn please, please, please tell me if I need to stop using hairspray, any kind of nail polish or use remover, perfume....let's see...tell me about anything you can think of outside of the obvious (mouthwash, poppy seeds, cough meds) that may give a positive result. I am just beginning the program and want to avoid any silly mistakes! Thanks in advance!!!! :D

jenn- i am almost through with TPAPN (finish nov 2011). i am a big hairspray fan- have not had any problem with it, or anything else, for that matter. i obviously take no unprescribed meds- or prescribed ones that would present a problem. never any cold meds or anything like that. & i use hand sanitizer without it being a problem. it's a doable deal- just do exactly as you're told & you'll have no problems. best of luck!!:heartbeat

Txrn- Thanks! I will do exactly what they tell me when they tell me! I know it sounds silly but I have been worried about the hairspray thing more than anything! LOL! It's the little things that worry me.

Is it true that if you are not employed full time as a nurse in a nursing job for a full year they will not release you from TPAPN after the 2 years of participation? I am also a TPAPN nurse who has been in the program since March but had to start over in July not because of a relapse but because of taking the wrong OTC cold medication. Everyone is right it is going to be a long, expensive 2 years. I am working on finding a job and have been turned down many times. I wish everyone the best because even though we put ourselves in this situation we still deserve the same respect that we have shown our patients and employers over the years...
