Support for TPAPN nurses

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hi everyone,

I am an RN newly enrolled in TPAPN. I have been seriously job hunting for 2 months without success. 30 plus years as a successful RN and now suddenly, I'm unemployable. There must be other nurses out there in the same situation. Is there a support group for recovering nurses in the Austin area? Any ideas for employment?

yes, check out cadeusus group........health care professional support group

Just remember this: regardless of how much clean sober time we have employers look at our contracts as our "clean, sober, mentally fit time". Many nurses here have spent 6+ months looking for employment and the boom! They get a job. Be patient with tthem and most importantly yourself. Something will come. Continue to apply to the same places every three or so months, and see if it makes a difference- one nurse I know did this and was successful.

Try psychiatric nursing...I am in DFW, but I was able to get a job easily in the psych field. Plus it's fun and interesting, IMO anyways =). Good luck!

Look through old post saw one about jobs in Austin area TPAPN friendly even had link to apply

I posted a while back about job openings in Austin. Check with the state of Texas job site. I work for Austin State Supported Living Center and they are TPAPN friendly (at least to me). Go to Come to Work...Where Your Work Makes a Difference: How to Apply with DADS | DADS and click the link for CAPPS. That's the job listing portal and the online application site. You should look at other Texas agencies beyond the Austin facility. There are numerous other state supported living centers and state jobs. I never thought I would be working with adults with developmental disabilities. It took me almost a full year to find another job after getting busted. I just had to open my mind to other possibilities. I'm grateful to the previous DON that gave me a job. She hired me when no one else would and I'm so glad.
