  1. If it happens again, you should contact your case manager right away and explain what happened. I missed a check in at one time, my case manager called me back and said I wasn't selected to test that day so I was fine, she said in the future I should just go and get tested option 1. She also said that if you miss a check in and don't report to your case manager, it can be counted as a positive!
  2. I started the TPAPN program on December 18, 2013. I was released to return to work after I completed PHP, around the middle of January.
  3. This happened to me once, someone accidentally took my card, I guess. It had about two weeks worth of meetings on it, and I was so upset! My NA friends said they would take care of me =). So what we did was print out another card and passed it around and everyone signed a line. I felt a little guilty but it wasn't as though I hadn't attended the meetings. After that I started making a copy of my card every weekend. That way if my card got lost again, I wouldn't lose everything!
  4. Thanks! [emoji5]️
  5. I am in Texas, I have recently been selected to test twice on weekends (both times on Saturday, once each in Nov and Dec). I had to call in and they gave me a location to go test at. This is a fairly recent change, I'm told. I know of a couple other nurses on TPAPN who have also been picked on the weekend. So I would not be surprised if they pick me on a holiday. I have been in the program for two years and was never tested on a weekend until last month.
  6. I took out FAFSA loans and and paid them mostly back while I was in school. I used my tuition reimbursement from my employer plus my yearly income tax refunds to pay off nearly 14000 in loans before I graduated. When I took my NCLEX I only had about $5000 left to pay off. I didn't splurge on anything with my new bigger paychecks so I got that 5000 paid off in less than six months. Good luck!
  7. Don't just surrender your license. Not sure what state you are in but there is probably a recovery monitoring program you can enroll in. I am in Texas, I entered TPAPN and my license is in good standing. If you look up my license I don't even have any disciplinary action on it. That's not true in all cases but you should see what your options are before you just give it all up.
  8. I actually had an active script in the previous six months, so my UA was reported as "negative." None of the opiates or amphetamines I had been taking showed up, miraculously, even though I had taken those less than 48 hours before testing. However, I had been diverting and knew it was all over and knew that I had a terrible problem. I admitted I had been stealing and I was terminated. I am currently in TPAPN and am in good standing with almost two years clean.
  9. It showed up on mine when I got busted and fired from my ER job. And I had not had any in about three days.
  10. I am almost two years into my three year contract with TPAPN. I have had it take up to ten days to post results, but I've never had anything other than a negative result. I asked about it at the place where I go to take my tests (they've gotten to know me, lol). The lady there said that the tests are always completely resulted in 2-3 days, but there is a person at quest whose job it is to enter the results into recovery trek, and that they just get behind in their work. So it's probably nothing to worry about!
  11. All the advice I've been given has been to wait until the end of the interview, or to wait until an offer has been made. That being said, I totally disagreed and I've NEVER followed this advice. I always tell them when they ask about my prior employment and why I left. (I was fired.). I give them a PG-rated version of what happened, not offering any of the gory details unless they ask. They've never asked. And I've gotten several job offers. Good luck!
  12. What state are you in?
  13. Twoyearnurse, how do you switch to hair follicle testing? Do you just request it from your case manager?
  14. In addition to all the other things that have been said, you also can say in job interviews that you self-reported. "I reported myself" sounds a lot better than "they reported me."
  15. My experience in TPAPN has been very positive. The 90 meetings/90 days requirement got me involved with a wonderful NA group, I have a support group of fellow addicts who include an FNP and several other women who work in the health care industry. My case manager is very nice, too, as well as my amazing advocate who has been a tremendous resource to me. I am halfway through a three year contract. My case manager approved me to take a cruise in Sept with my NA girlfriends. I am very active in service work with my NA group, right now I hold the finance audit position (financial bookkeeping). I worked psych for almost 18 months after losing my ER job and being referred to TPAPN for diverting. I really hated it, although a lot of people like it better than dialysis or LTC. I recently got a wonderful job at a surgery center very close to my home, where I work in the PACU and am about to start OR training. I love it. Very good things are happening in my life, which I give all the credit to God, by surrendering my self-will and figuring out how to get on my Higher Power's path for my life. I was clearly making a mess of things on my own. I feel like my life is so much better today, I have a four year old son who never has to remember seeing his mother high, as long as I stay on track with God's will for my life, and don't use no matter what. I am almost finished with my 12 steps, and it has been a life changing experience. Good luck, this can be a positive experience if you just keep an open mind and follow the rules to the letter!
