Stipulations make it so hard?

Nurses Recovery

Published

So I am still anxious to find job. I think wat makes it more difficult than the stipulations is that I have been out of nursing for 9 years and if I don't find a job soon it will be 10. My stips are no narcotic contact for first year(had nothing to do with drugs st wrk), direct supervision for one year, quarterly reports, drug screens obce a week for 3 months,2 meetings a week for 2 years,$350.00 fine and a total of 2 year probation. So I am running out if optionz to find a job. I regret making that decision I made to use an illegal drug 9 yrs ago,as now I am heavily payin for my mistake. I just need someone to give me that chance to show wat a caring and good person I rreally am. That board order.makes me look like a raging addict. I have so much experience and learn and adjust quickly. Also -9 years older and 9 years wiser. I know my prayers will be answered im just trying to do my part plus my humanly emotions get in the way sometimes.Dee p down I know God doesn't give us more than we can handle.

Ugh - I feel your pain - I had such a hard time finding a nursing job when I entered our state's RNP.

I was caught at work diverting waste meds. I had no idea at the time that the things had done would follow me so long - sounds stupid I know.

I had been doing the same thing at a previous hospital - wasn't caught but I spent so much time calling in or being late I was such a crappy employee - and a crappy nurse. They put me on unpaid leave to "see your MD and get your s--- together." Needless to say I didn't get to go back because "I don't have a problem with ANYTHING." How dare they?? (I was sailing down the river of de-nial big time)

So I start looking around for another job - and finally found one. The DON of our local charity hospital gave me a chance. My brother had married her granddaughter some years before and even though they had divorced she hired me. I was there 5 months before getting caught.

She told me if I self reported my job would be safe and it would be fine - that I wasn't the first nor the last nurse to go thru this. Then a few days after I self reported she called me and told me I was being fired "but will still have insurance to pay for rehab". I believed it.

Then a few days later came the call that I had lost my insurance.

After rehab I found no one that would give me the chance at a nursing job. I finally took a job as a pizza delivery driver. I worked there for about a year or so. Finally a friend in my nursing support group got me in for an interview with his director.

I was hired and started the process of building a better professional reputation.

Some time later, he took a job on our LTAC spec unit as a manager and we started dating. We ended up getting married and will celebrate our 10 year anniversary this summer.

I was able to repair the relationship with my brother. He was still in the throes of his Sadly, he passed away in his sleep of an accidental OD 3 years ago Mother's Day.

luv you Anne, for me it was learning to do MDS assessments in LTC......others have found dialysis clinics stipulation friendly......keep your recovery a priority, and best of luck to you......you definitely are not alone :alien:

Anne thank you it really helps me to know that im not the only one out here. I appreciate any stories. I've been out so long and I know that's making it more difficult. As far as the mds training sallyrnrrt how do I do that I was an adon in the mid 1990s and recall reviewing them but was never certified. How does the certification work.?

Hey moving! There are some online certification classes you can take, google it, ensure they are accredited, and go for it! The site will let you know if there are any special requirements (I.e. number of years in nursing etc)

Ok thank you that gives me an idea of what I need to do. I got an interview monday at a LTC facility for a weeken position treatment nurse. It is part time but at least it would be a start. I hope whoever interviews me has an open heart. I am still looking into the MDS Training. It s something I know I can do ib helped with the reviews when I worked as an ADON. I will let you all know how it goes. I lost track of the apps ive put out but this will be my 4th interview. Since Jan.
