License suspended b/c of taxes

I just found out my license was suspended because of state taxes not being paid. I went and got my taxes done by the people in the federal tax office in Kansas City 2 years ago and the guy told me that my refund was going towards my back state taxes. I found a letter from the board while cleaning off my desk that said my license would be suspended if not taken care of by Sept 19th, it is now Sept 28th. I unknowingly worked 3 shifts while suspended. I am in the process of getting a payment arrangement with the state regarding the taxes and getting a compliance letter to the board before my license is revoked but my question is how screwed am I that I worked while suspended if I didn't know I was suspended. Also I'm a travel nurse working in the same state, am I going to lose my contact and my job.

I'm not offering any legal advice, but I would think you would have a hard time arguing that you "didn't know" your license was suspended when you had a letter notifying you in advance that your license would be suspended by a specific date if you didn't pay your back taxes.

I would also think you might want to talk to an attorney about your situation.

My state will yank your license for unpaid student loans too. With plenty of notice. I'm sorry that you're without a license, but I really don't think the "I didn't know" excuse will fly =(

I hope you get things taken care of quickly!!

What does any of this have to do with "nurses in recovery"? I'm just sayin'.....
