  1. I had thought about law firms as well when i was new. The lack if patient care didnt sit well with me and i also figured that law firms wouldn't want someone in hpmp as the legal nurse is essentially the law firms "medical expert" and could be easily discredited by opposing counsel. Many if us have found work in dialysis as theres no narcs. I have found that the mentality of dialysis is difficult to deal with. From the techs who only seem to want to get finished and out of work as quickly as possible to management who although technically are RNs seem to solely committed to "the numbers" and making money for the company. It was a nursing job and i needed it so i took it. Perhaps this is only my clinic though... What part if the state are you in Niki77?

Beg, borrow (dont steal) to get the funds for a consult with a lawyer. With some internet searching you could even find one whos initial consult is free. You wouldn't go into a surgical procedure without a surgeon would you? Dont go into a legal matter (which is exactly what this is) without at least having spoken with a lawyer experienced in these matters.
  3. Hello all. Any fellow HPMPrs out there who may have some leads on an HPMP understanding manger or hospital unit in the tidewater area (other than sentara please)? The dialysis unit i was lucky enough to secure a job in 6 mos into HPMP is killing me. Incompetent doesn't even begin to describe what I'm seeing on a daily basis. Leadership is even worse. I have been approved to return to critical care but would be happy to work anywhere in an in-patient setting again. Just thought Id throw this out there and see if a little recovery networking might pay off. Hope you're all well.

Hello and welcome. Please try and breathe i know its difficult right now. Remember these points: Your life is not over. It is almost 100% certain you'll keep your license providing youre ready and willing to recover. Youre not alone. I also advise that you retain counsel who is experienced in healthcare law. I wish that i had. That is the best resource as to if you should self report or not. DO NOT speak to the board without counsel. Trust us, just don't do it. Tell us a bit about yourself and situation. What state are you in?
  5. That $500 credit i got doesn't look so good anymore.... Disgusting. What a scam.
  6. What quarter ate you in travelrn? I am worried to find out the cost of our pathyophys and pharm texts
  7. The 1% was insulting. I complained to academic advising as they suggested in the email we all got that said they weren't supplying books anymore.
  8. Any other Walden U students here disgusted by the schools recent decision to not supply texts as they had promised when we were applying? Seems to me that if a business promises things for which they expect payment and then do not supply all of these things constitutes theft or fraud does it not? Has anyone complained to the better business bureau? I have not yet. What has been the response from advising to your complaints? I was totally brushed off initially but kept at them and have been offered a $200 bookstore credit which i declined and was then offered a $500 credit. What has been your experience?
  9. It will not. Think if every physician who is in monitoring, they all carry insurance.
  10. Applying to NP school was difficult being in monitoring. Some schools (univ. south Alabama) wont admit those in monitoring while others (VA commonwealth U) have a list of convictions that exclude you. Basically violent crimes, touching children and anything to do with drugs. Evidently were of that ilk in many minds. I have started at walden. Its definitely not the program i wanted but its a means to an end. Easiest application ever. No essay, references, criminal conviction questions. Like i said i have my doubts about their program but evidently beggars, child rapists and us.... Cant be choosers. There are others on here who have graduated from better schools as NPs. UConn to name one. Do a search and the thread will pop up.
  11. Skinny, Dialysis is always hpmp friendly. Forget sentara, they don't hire those in monitiring from my understanding. I know of one person whose in hpmp that works for Chesapeake regional. PM me with any questions.
  12. I understand there seems to be no reciprocity while still enrolled in a program but does anyone here have any experience with moving states once they've completed a program? Im interested in moving to WA state once finished my monitoring program but not to thrilled about starting another monitoring program....
  13. Hello all. Ive just been accepted to this program and begin feb 29. What has been your experience with walden thus far? Do you feel that they are adequately preparing you for licensure and practice? I heard that many feel there is a danger of getting through the program without really learning whats important d/t there being so much writing vs testing of actual knowledge of things like pathophys and pharm. also, how does this "all online" program address us learning procedures such as suturing, chest tubes, CVCs, I&D etc?
  14. Pavment: good luck with your future endeavors, i really do believe the DEA # will work out, ive researched it a lot. Please keep us informed as to how things go i was recently accepted into Waldens AGACNP program and begin at the end of this month. Congratulations on finishing your program!
  15. Ive also been wondering about this issue. My research has mostly uncovered that it will not be a problem for you. I know many MDs here in my states' program who have retained their DEA #s my reading has les me to believe that the federal govt. will ask questions but in a case like yours will grant prescriptive authority. Many websites i visited pointed out that denying a compliant practitioner who is in recovery would violate the americans with disabilities act
