have I been following all rules for nothing ? I am broke and my family does not believe in mental illness .And all I hear from TPAPN is I am sorry.Well that does not pay bills!!!

You may need to get in through a personal recommendation. Maybe one of your instructors or classmates can help you out or put in a good word for you?

Also, have your career office at your school look over your cover letter and resume to ensure it's the best it can possibly be.

It's very admirable that you've come this far.

Hey Victoria, the OP doesn't give us much to go off of by way of any advice that may be helpful to her (him?). Nightbloom gave some great advice about reaching out to resources. You are right, it is hell moving past the stigma associated with substance abuse and mental illness. Very difficult. However, it's not helpful to dwell on these facts either.

There are many of us here who have been able to regain our careers through hard work and perseverance. I myself have found a lovely job outside of nursing that utilizes my degree in the interim. We have to get creative! If we stared at all the barriers we wouldn't see the possibilities. Dwelling is dangerous, disheartening, and isolating.

Don't give up! I'm sure like all of us you worked to hard to give it all up. Are you doing interviews, online applications or what????Are you from a small town? What seems to be your biggest obstacle?

PCORRAL: You may have to travel- to more rural areas- to find something. Apply at the least attractive places- that may be desperate for help, & willing to work with the restrictions. Sometimes dialysis is recovery-friendly- as there are no narcotics given, making that stipulation not a problem. Definitely think outside the box- this is going to be a challenge! Best of luck- don't give up- keep looking up & moving forward!

yes, you can.....i have found ltc and especially dialysis stipulation friendly
