hi!I'm currently here in Texas using my tourist visa. I want to take my NCLEX exam here. Do you happen to know if its possible even without social security number? I kept on calling the BON here in Texas but I haven't gotten any feedback yet. I need some help please. Thanks.

You do not need to be a us citizen to take nclex people from other counties take it all the time. Ssn is issues to j1 visa, f1 visa and many other visas you do not have to be a citizen to get one, pls get facts right

I think you are misreading what is being posted. F1 does not guarantee a SSN, the must be authorized by the school for on campus employment. F1 is a student visa with the possibility for work not a work visa.

Correct you do not have to be a citizen to obtain a SSN. But the only individuals issued a SSN are citizens, legal permanent residents, and those holding a valid work visa.

Citizenship is not a requirement. But there is a federal mandate slowly bring implemented that a professional license should not be issued unless the candidate is a citizen, permanent resident or on an authorized work visa (EB3, J1, H1B, or other visas). CA, AZ, NJ, MD, and VT are some states that will not accept an application for licensure without a valid social security number. Other states will process the application and authorize a candidate to sit for the NCLEX but not issue a license until a valid SSN is presented. (Such as FL)

There are states that will process applications (so far) with a SSN waiver with the condition that a valid SSN will be provided before beginning work as soon as available. But there are fewer states with this option now b

No NCLEX retake or license renewal applications accepted without valid SSN after 12/2014.

Maybe my friend lied to me because she said she didnt require ssn when she applied in vermont. Thanks for that info I will ask her again.

If her initial application was before 2012 and she failed she would be able to reapply to sit the exam without a SSN until Dec 2014. If she applied after 2012 it is not possible that an initial application for licensure was accepted without an SSN

hi.. i just want to ask, if it is possible to have my nclex application in california even i dont have a social security number?
