Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

Hi! I think I already posted sometime here when I was about to take my CBT, and I luckily passed in one try last January 4. I've read Kweni's blog as referrence and it did helped me a lot in my preparations. I reviewed for CBT immediately when I got accepted by the hospital I applied to. I think I've had a month of review then before I immersed myself into my IELTS review (failed last May, and passed my Writing finally in November).

I got some sample questions from a fellow nurse at Kweni's blog, so if someone wants to have a copy, you can email me at [email protected]. It helped me to prepare myself with the kind of questions that will appear on the exam.

My docs are now on queue since March 9. My employer is now working on my CoS and I'm still waiting for my DL while I'm here in the province. Who's from IPAMS/Royal Brompton here? :)

Good luck to all of us and I hope we'll be able to reach our dreams of working abroad :)

Hello everyone. I have been following this thread from the date I met the 7.0 requirement of IELTS/UKVI Academic Module. I created my NMC account January 4, 2017, and on the same date I created my Pearson VUE account. I received the Authorisation To Test (ATT) on the same date too (2 attempts in a span of 6 months).

So yes, I took my CBT (NMC ToC Part 1) today with Pearson and just received an e-mail from NMC to check my result. STATUS - F A I L . I felt so devastated. I am actually quite sad right now as I am typing this comment. I reviewed for more than TWO months. Read all The Code, Standards for Medications, Competencies, Blueprint, and the latest edition of The Royal Marsden Hospital Manual for Clinical Nursing Procedures. I answered the MCQs available too and did a practice test with Pearson. I am going to book my test in the next few months before my ATT expires and I do hope I pass the test on my second attempt. Boy, GBP 130 is quite hefty. Make that twice, and all the other costs I have incurred in preparing for my IELTS and this one. I am sorry for ranting here. I just feel so bad right now.

May I ask if the "ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS" were marked during your test proper? In the practice test they were actually marked, but not on the real deal. Though, based on all the comments here, most of the essential questions are about UK Laws and safe practices. It's just sad that I won't be able to determine my raw score, where I made the errors, and how were they REALLY scored.

By the way, congratulations to all aspiring UKRNs who passed the CBT, or already have DLs, or already passed the OSCE and on their way to getting that golden NMC PIN. You guys inspire me. Thanks for reading. take care y'all.

Hi! Dont lose hope! You're almost there so just exert a little more patience and this will be over :) While reading your post, it seemed like you've prepared well for this and read the correct materials. I've done the same so I'm just confused why you failed.

Regarding on the critical questions, those aren't marked and will seem like just an easy/usual Nursing question. I've read somewhere that there are 20 critical questions in the exam and you should get around 90% correct answers to pass, or else you'll fail entirely (from what I've read). For now, just focus on your upcoming exam and try to remember some of the questions you've got since those might be repeated on your next examination. I wish you all the best! Fighting! :)

There really is no secret to passing the CBT, but if you do put in the work, you'll definitely get results. Many of my colleagues here at work underestimated the CBT both before and during the actual exams saying that it is quite easy, which is why they failed during their first try. Even I didn't pass until my second try so I know how disheartening it feels.

As for OSCE, I presume most NHS Trusts help their recruits with how to tackle it. If not, I'm sure your Filipino kuya's and ate's would be very eager to help you guys with it.

Hi! I'm from IPAMS too but for Lister Hospital. Is it possible to apply for CoS while waiting for the DL? I hope they process my CoS once I'm on queue since I just sent my docs few days ago

Hi nurselei! I'm under IPAMS/RBH too! I sent you an email.. Did they already applied for your COS? I was on queue last Feb 9.. Hope to get our DLs soon! Godbless! ;)

Anyone here under CUH NHS Trust? Addenbrooke's? Love to hear from you. Thank you :)

Im also waiting for my COS, i received my DL since Feb 13.

Hi! I dont have my DL yet but RBH is already processing my CoS this March. I haven't talked to them again since they called me last week of Feb. I think it's the employer's decision when to apply for their applicants' s CoS. IPAMS told me that employers are now rushing to process CoS since the cost for application will be a little bit more expensive come April.

Yeah, try 1k/year per person that they're recruiting from overseas. It's called a skills charge that they're rolling out this April. I've read that it's to encourage businesses to put in the necessary time to train local employees instead of recruiting overseas.

It is definitely the employer's decision when to apply for the CoS. I'm just trying to see if the case is similar to all trusts because I was told that the case is the same with all the trusts that my agency is currently handling; That the CoS' have been applied for on the the 5th but have yet to be released and/or decided upon wethear they were approved or not.

Great....another obstacle to overcome....as if the path wasn't hard enough....-_-

It doesn't make sense in my opinion. The demand for nurses that the NHS is in immediate need of is greater than they can locally supply. So if the supply is insufficient in the first place the skills charge won't really discourage them from recruiting overseas.

From the reading that I've been doing it's not that the hospitals aren't willing to train fresh graduates, it's that not enough people are taking the course. And even if they had people who wanted to take up nursing there aren't enough slots in all their schools and universities to produce the projected number of nurses needed to cover the NHS demand. So again, it defeats the purpose of the skills charge.

While I can appreciate the need to control immigration and comprehend the worry that one must feel when their country is becoming dependent upon foreign nations for their workforce, I'm thinking there has got to be a more suitable option than imposing further taxes on an institution that has already been deemed underfunded in the first place when all they're trying to do is cope with the need as quickly and efficiently possible. But what do I know, I'm just a humble lone nurse waiting for a CoS. :D

And yes, as if the path wasn't already hard and LONG enough.

I am still waiting for my visa, and I am also currently processing other requirements such as philhealth and pag-ibig.

I haven't started reviewing yet, but had an osce overview manual that was shared to me before.

hi rukawa. can you share to me that osce overview manual? by the way i'm already here in UK, i arrived last march 16...
