NCLEX-RN application help and share insights

Hi everyone, I also took my BSN in the Philippines and now currently residing in California. I applied for NCLEX-RN last August and still working on with the additional requirements CABON needs. In line with this, I'm having dilemmas in completing my PRC cases. It seems like I need to go back to the Philippines just to complete those especially my major/minor cases.. And one more thing, how many cases does the BRN needs(they didn't indicate in the later how many cases they need)? Is it 3 or 5?

In the other hand, I would love to hear any suggestions, opinions from my fellow kababayans who are still processing their papers and also much more appreciated to those who will share their experiences when they were still applying to CABON. :)

I would love to hear from you guys, I'd appreciate every single detail that you could share in this post. :)

also add me up on ym .. jheysie7@yc thanks alll.

Kabayan, the CA BON requires that you must complete your cases BEFORE you graduate. If it's passed that time frame, then the only solution is to take the approved courses in CA. There's no need to go back home, it's too late and will not be accepted, plus how will your school back home be able to fit in your cases now and still comply with the CA BON requirements, it's impossible to turn back the hands of time.

There's plenty of reads and topics and the options of a few CA schools in this section, seek and ye shall find the answers.

You will learn that basically the West Coast of the States have already closed or started to close the doors to many international students from WA, CA, NV and AZ etc and about 10-11 States all over, due to the concurrency issue. Realize that the CHED, PRC and PNA are trying to "solve" this issue, but I've heard that the curriculums may not be accepttable (by the various States) or changed (in the Phils) till the year 2016.

Read on this section on your other options to be become a USRN: apply to other States currently not enforcing the concurrency issues, find the CA schools that are CA BON approved for the deficiences if you can afford the $$$ or get an LVN license and try to get into the no-so-easy to apply into LVN-RN bridge schools, also $$$ and many have wait-lists. Good luck to you and all.

You applied into CA prior to a certain cut-off date of about April, 2011 (I think), the CA BON was not strictly enforcing the concurrency rules and allowed those applicants to get their ATT if the application was started, however, those that applied after that month and year (it could have been a little bit later), were pretty much flatly denied.

It's great that you passed the NCLEX the first time, as there are many reported posters here, who did not and for the majority they were denied the re-take, even after passing the requirements the first time. I guess the CA BON at least gave those a chance.
