I am glad I chanced upon this excellent forum. It is great to be able to discuss with colleagues... at least I hope to be a fully fledged colleague. I finished my BScN in Canada. Unfortunately, I did not succeed after 3 tries on RN exam in Canada. I came so close the last 2 times, and I don't want to give up on my dream. Can anyone advise me on how possible it is to write NCLEX in CA (or does anyone recommend another state)? I have read some cautionary things about writing in CA, but the info is dated a bit. Any advice is most welcome. Thanks.

Unless you have a US SSN you can't apply to California. Where do you plan on working in the US?

Hi Silverdragon,

Is it possible to apply for a CA SSN from outside CA? As for working in the US, I am flexible. Which state is ease for me to apply to take NCLEX exam? Thanks.

Better question is are you a Canadian citizen?

Yes, I'm Canadian.

Citizens qualify can work under NAFTA, permanent residents can't. That makes a huge difference to prospective employers.

Are you francophone because some of your sentence structure is that of someone who is ESL.

No, my English is native speaker English, and my English grades are first class, but I may be influenced by my knowledge of other languages.

Really? Where did you do your Grade 12 because the majority of people who have English as a mother tongue would not have worded that sentence that way

You need to decide where you want to work and check out the state's requirements. If a US SSN is required then look for another state as a US SSN requires immigrant or work visa before being issued (legal permission to live and work in the US)

Born and raised on Vancouver Island. My wording may be unusual, but the grammar is sound.
