Could someone please give me some advice

Hi

I am a mental health nurse practising in the UK and am looking to move to Canada. My partner and I attended a seminar in London on the weekend where we found out general information about emmigrating and a tiny bit about nursing specifics. I am aware that i would need to sit an exam, i was told it is called the CRNE but many of the example questions I have found online have been based a lot around general nurses and not psych nurses i.e. bone marrow procedures and post op care. Is there a psych nurse conversion exam or do all international nurses need to sit the CRNE?

I have a meeting with an immigration specialist in a few months and want tobe prepared with relevant questions

Any advice ould be great

RMN is only accepted in a few provinces mainly on the west side like Manitoba, BC, Saskatoon off the top of my head. If you do a search for mental health in these provinces you should be able to find the college of mental health for that province, think college as similar to NMC

Thanks. I will have a look. How are Canadian nurses trained then? do they complete their general nursing course and then specialise in psych? I was trained purely as a mental health nurse for 3 years

Mostly Canadian training is general and then you tend to specialize once you find an area you enjoy working in

Unless they are sitting the Psychiatric exam which OP could be doing if they meet that requirement
