CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

Hi! Just wondering how long it takes for the CGFNS to process the report and so you mean Florida is not the same as CA with concurrency issue?:) I am planning to try Florida and hope i will get a good news too! Last question:) what are the requirements so i can be exempted for taking English proficiency exam? Looking forward for your reply and thanks in advance!!

Application for examination for FL found on their website: http://doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/ap_licensure-RN-LPN.pdf Page 11 of the application packet has information about English proficiency.

This packet found on their website has more information about foreign applicants, including about English proficiency: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/info_EduOutUS.pdf

Any questions, call or e-mail the BON.

Hi,

The CGFNS processed my papers for almost 2 months. It depends on your papers if it's complete then they will process it as quick as i am. The Florida board didn't ask me to take the English proficiency exam. Again, it also depends on the school where you finished your BSN. Last week, i sent them the copy of my Continuing Education Certificate "Prevention of Medical Errors ". And just this day, i sent my Finger print card. Hopefully by next month i'll get my eligibility and take the Nclex-Rn.exam

Thanks orchidgee:) the 2 months process is the ordinary type of prof.report and not the prof.report expedited review service right? thank you

Hello everyoneim having a bad day bec i received a sad news. i got a letter from CA BON stating that i'm not eligible for NCLEX RN exam. so frustrating, but i'm still hoping i can take LVN exam ( my best option so far) so my questions are how do you guys start your lvn application? do i need to provide GED/ or HS diploma (sa pinas).. CA BON told me that i can send request for them to send all my requirements to lvn board.. please guys send me some advice!! thank u kabayan[/quote']

May I asked why were u denied? When and where did u graduate?

I just passed my nclex-rn as a foreign grad I got my eligibility on nov 2012 and undergone the same requirements that ca required. Like you guys I lost hope in CA but was given a chance again. What I learned is it wouldnt hurt to try to apply if you really wish to stay in CA yes it is expensive, time consuming and stressfull to apply something that is uncertain but thats just me. I was also eligible to HI bon but thankful that i wont need to take the exam in HI anymore. Taking the exam has extra pressure I failed my last exam at 75 and passed it at 75, I guess was terrified that they wont give me another chance if I screw up again.

You are indeed one of the few lucky ones to have escaped the wrath of the CA BON, congrats! Yes, good thing, you passed as re-applying one more time might have changed this picture.

Do you know if other batchmates of the same graduating class or after you also applied and got their ATT recently?

I remember you mentioned I think someone's son got their PH nursing program approved or met with the CA BON and CHED, do you know what became of that meeting?

They asked me to send them copy of my us passport (which took time coz i had no clue where to find my old passport) and schedule of rotation.

@steppybay - most of my batchmates here in CA already passed their nclex before I did but I heard from one of my friend that he knows someone from our batch that was asked the same requirements and a statement why his nursing transcript are from 2 different schools (i guess she was an irregular student back then). Regarding the son from pi unfortunately I have no update cause I just eavesdrop their conversation lol.
