Ok interviewed for another job offer 36.00 and hour need to see 16 patients a day, any thing beyond that I get 10.00 per pt, one friend told me I was selling my self short, even with that they will pay back student loans and she still said I was crazy to accept the offer , I am a new grad I thought it was a sweet deal help this job is a rural part of Illinois so not alot of Np's looking for a job there

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

I live in central IL (near Peoria) and that sounds like a good offer to me too. That is certainly on par with what many private practices are offering new grads in central IL.

Thanks, I thought it was a great offer, one place I interviewed at expected me to see 40 patients a day as a new grad, I thought that was alot even though I have tons of experience as a nurse. Does any one else have any thoughts on this

Specializes in allergy and asthma, urgent care.

I think it's a good offer. Paying back your loans adds a lot to your salary. I also think 16 pts. a day is reasonable-I book 24 a day and it's hectic.

Is that 16 pt in an 8 (working) hour day? That doesn't sound too bad.

yes 16 in 8 hours anything over and i get a $10.00 bonus per pt, so I do imagine they will want me to see more. One place wanted be to see 40 a day in 8 hours as a new grad:eek:

Aside from the salary and patient load issues, what kind of an impression did you get? Does it seem like a good, supportive place to work, where you'll be treated well? That, to me, is equal in importance to salary.

Yes I did get the impression that I will be treated well. It is a very rural area where there is a great need for mid-levels, when I left that evening I stopped at the local gas station to grab a soda and to get a feeling for the local people, when I mentioned to the gal behind the counter why I was in the area she was oh wow you are really going to like working with that MD everyone is so nice she went on to say because it is such a rural and poor area people do not want to work there. I know rural medicine is what I want, I don't need or want big city life, I am content with a walmart, target and a good book. If I get a yearning for the city it is only 90 minutes away

Sounds like it's a good offer then. If it feels right, then go for it!!!

What type of patients will you be expected to see? All PE or all walk-in a combination? How many other providers are there? Any call? Cont Ed? Vacation? support?

peds pt acute and well there will be one other provider no call no weekends 15 days vac 6 days sick, 1250 for cme and 5 days for cme plus student loan payback:loveya:

$36.00 an hour is right at $75,000.00 a year. Add in student loan payback, benefits, 3 weeks vacation, CME and your total package probably approaches $90K. I would definitely try to come back to them with some negotitation to either a higher hourly rate OR an agreement to review you in 6 months and if you meet some mutually agreed upon criteria, your salary increases by X amount.
