I am just full of questions today, thank you for indulging me!

I have seen lots of discussion discouraging RNs from working as a tech, due to role confusion and being held to the standards of the higher license, even though you are performing the duties of the lesser one. I was wondering if this same holds true for NPs working as a staff RN? Is it advisable or not to continue working as a floor nurse once you have your NP? Would you be held to a higher standard than any other RN?

There have been several discussion on this topic - you might want to do a search.

sirI - one of the admins here is also an LNC and she advises against it as you will be held to the higher standard.

Personally, I wouldnt' do it.

What if you obtain your NP degree and can't find an NP job (which will likely happen in a mere year and a half when I graduate)? I can't be expected to quit my job as an RN before securing an NP job. This concerns me, and I've even thought about changing my specialty - to an administrative MSN....
