Hello! I am a NP working in a dermatology private practice. My collaborating physician has ask that I reach out to others for examples of how their productivity bonus is determined. I would also like to know what you generally charge and collect. I am looking for any ideas, not necessarily specific to dermatology. Thank you!!

I have two jobs where I'm paid per patient encounter depending on the billing code. I know a NP and a Doctor who get 85% of what they bill but that is without benefits.

80% all revenue generated in excess of salary. For August I didn't get much because there were a lo of cancellations and no shows with school restarting. July I got 2600 over 12250.

I think RVUs are stupid.

Psych guy. Are you saying you make 12500 per month as salary and in addition you get 80 percent of what you bring in over 12500. I like this. You know how much money you can count on. Pay based on revenue always bothered me because of no shows.

I also wanted to add that it is my understanding Derm is a heavy hitter as far as physicians go, few get in the specialty and they make serious money. If this is the case as a NP I'd be sure to be making top dollar also. There is no way I'd settle for an average salary in a high dollar specialty.

Yes salary plus 80% of anything extra.

Absolutely. Dermatology is a very competitive residency to match into. Those that get in are already creme of the crop. They make a lot of money. People will pay lots of money to get rid of theirs zits. There is also an opportunity for procedures if you're into that sort of thing. Really, you're going to be prescribing a lot of creams. How challenging is that? If I could do dermatology I would probably do it. But I have trouble looking at sores.
