My instructors told us about a place to order practice suture materials (it's supposed to be like different layers of skin) and there's also a translucent one so you could see your sutures better.

A little costly but if you really want to practice it might be worth it!
And congrats on your dream job!

Hey there,
After searching for over a year I've found the Surgical NP position I've been wanting. I'll be rounding on patients, assisting in OR and following though discharge. I'm very excited but also extremely nervous!!
Although being an OR nurse for the past decade has given me a comfort level with some things (sterile technique, instruments etc) I've never sewn anything other than a drumstick before, lol! Also, my inpatient nursing exp is 10+ years ago.
I've made a "homework" list for myself including common procedures and drugs I'll be dealing with. I have Uptodate, epocrates and medscape to name a few.
I'm going to have a long orientation being a new grad anyways but in the meantime, what else can I do?
Thanks!!
