Problem with another nurse

Nurses Relations

theres one nurse in particular that i give report to, who ALWAYS treats me like im an idiot. she is very nasty to me and grills me every time im talking to her. shes nit-picky and it seems like she expects everything to be done before her shift, so that she doesnt have to do anything on hers. i cant be perfect but this really bothers me. she makes me feel like i DO have to be perfect. im still learning, so how do i deal with this? im afraid one day she'll report me even though shes the only one who seems to have a problem with me.

I work with a nurse like this. She is just a miserable human being. It takes an extra 20 minutes to give her report because she doesn't listen during verbal report, just clicks on the computer, and then asks "did you do this? did you do that?" Then (and this is the weirdest part) she goes to the bathroom for half an hour.

Oh, and she likes to drop little digs too: "I don't have time for that **** on day shift." Yeah, because on night shift we just sit around and eat pizza and laugh at day shift and take naps. The whole thing is just one big laugh riot slumber party.

Im an intern and I understand where youre coming from. You have to ask yourself if shes doing this just to be a nit pick or if shes doing this to help you so you dont get into trouble with your supervisor. Ive had a hard time accepting feedback from other nurses because it seemed like they were just doing it because i was still a baby nurse and they were more experienced. Looking back, i see most of the time they just had my best interest at heart. Its important just to hear out what they have to say and why they want it the way they do (most of the time they have a valid argument). Say you understand their point and try to remember that for next time. Most important is to remember is that you cant please everyone in this world and you cant keep track of what everyones expectations of you are. Just do your best and try to make use of the advice other nurses give you
