I am very lucky to work in an environment where my co-workers and I have a great director and a very positive workplace experience. In the past I was not as fortunate, so I have a great appreciation for this.

During this time of giving thanks, I wondered how people let co-workers know they appreciate them...

I have worked for many years in an 22-bed CVICU and we are fortunate to have a great manager who supports us in all we do. On 7a to 7p we work well together and understand that good relationships are crucial in critical care. We do "gang baths" where we all pop in to help so it gets done quicker. I do all the brownies and birthday cakes, and if somebody's having a rough day, a good hug goes a long way. I love my coworkers!

When I worked as a house supervisor, I regularly thanked the floor nurses and patient care techs. I was grateful for all that they did.

In addition, I no longer wanted to bust my butt in the trenches, so routinely thanking the nursing staff worked in my favor. It ensured that the staff reported to work timely and minimized the number of call-ins.

Yes! I'm lucky enough to have great working relationships with pretty much everyone on the two units I work on. We all take an inch and give a mile.
