Wilmington -- places to live -- INFO needed:)

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hey everyone!!

It's been quite a while since I've posted -- & if I recall correctly -- @ that time there was actually a thread for NON-nursing related posts......PLEASE forgive me for posting this here, for lack of energy attempting to find the other.....(I've read enough to at least have a clue where to start the job searching when it's time ) .....

I'm needing SPECIFICS if at all possible about where to consider living and definitely where NOT to consider living....in dreamland I'd like to be as close to Wrightsville Beach as possible, but financially may not be feasible. I guess I'm more in line for an apartment (2 or 3 BR) than a house, as I'd like the pool & maintenance that comes with!

Absolutely ANY insights would be appreciated greatly!!!

I presently live in the Triad (W-S, HP, G'boro) area & am considering the move to Wilmington sooner rather than later as originally planned. I don't make it over to W-ton often, but happened to get over here for a couple of nights -- just visited 1 complex & wasn't impressed (+ they did not have W/D hookup which I need).....

Again, thanks in advance for your valuable time & any advice!!!!

I just moved to the Wilmington area from Indiana. My husband is actually from Wilmington so he still has lots of family here.

We live in Leland which is a short drive over the bridge from Wilmington. This area is currently being cleaned up and there is new construction all around.

I like the area. It is much different than what I am used to in Indiana. We lived in the Northwest region which is very near Chicago. Big rat race...lots of cars. Life here is simpler, slower.

Leland does not currently have much by way of fun, but Wilmington does. The beaches are beautiful, and again Leland is about a 15 minute drive from Wrightsville Beach. I go there often as I am waiting to take my test and cannot get the NCBON to move any faster.

Hope this helps!!!

I recently moved back to Wilmington, I grew up here and then moved to Maryland for a few years. Most parts of Wilmington are good as long as you stay away from downtown. I work at Eastwood and Military Cutoff which is like a mile from Wrightsville. The area is quite expensive (well for NC definitely not compared to Maryland). Are you planning on getting an apartment, renting a house or buying. There are a lot of nice complexes. I live in monkey junction, I use to live in Leland. I love the monkey junction area it is about a 20 minute drive to wrightsville, but carolina beach is really nice too which is 5 minutes away. Ogden will probably be the most reasonably priced area closest to Wrightsville so try there. I believe it should be a 28403 area code.

Good luck!
