NC Results Anyone?

I took my NCLEX exam last week in MA for my license in NC. I had studied long and hard for the exam and it shut off at 75 questions. I have been checking the NCBON website and calling the verification number religiously for the past week, and still nothing! I am getting worried and am fearing the worst. Anyone else from NC know roughly how long it takes? I'll be devastated if I failed, but I want to know because this waiting is driving me crazy! :uhoh21:

Just following up with you to see if you have received your results yet? I am sure it is frustrating putting your life on hold in anticipation of receiving your licensue so you can practice. I can tell you that 3 years from now, you will look back at your waiting period and share that experience with other nurses and laugh about how crazy you felt waiting for what seemed like forever. Please do share if you have received your results and good luck .... :)

Thank you. No news yet. I contacted the NCBON and was told that it can pretty much take 30 days, and they only issue licenses on Tuesday and Fridays. I guess Peasron Vue has 30 days to send results. Once they are sent, the NCBON issues failure letters or licenses on the next licensing day. I am still not in the verification system, so I am trying to be optimistic and hope my results haven't been sent. However, I will not be surprised if I get a depressing letter because I am preparing for the worst. As you have stated on the other board, it may take longer because I took the test out of state and applied for a NC license when my home state is MA. Who knows. I am sure I will be laughing at this one day.

Right now it's really frustrating because I "put the horse before the cart" so to speak and moved down here right after I took the test, and am due to start at my new job on August 9th. The plan would work great if everything goes the way it's "supposed to." Ha, Murphy's Law. I'll have to find a job or something to help pay bills if I have to retake the test and cannot start work in August. My family is all 700 miles away and I don't really know anyone here yet. *sigh* What a fiasco. I guess it will all work out in the end, because everything ususally does. I JUST WANT TO KNOW...It's been 8 days and nothing. If it's in the mail it will be sent to MA and will be forwarded to me, delaying things even longer. AHHHHHHHH! :eek:Ok, enough of this rant.

In essence, thank you for asking...there's no good news yet, but I will make sure to update either way. :)

Please do ... will MA issue a license before NC does based on the fact that MA was your home State and that is where you took boards? If so, can you look at their BON website to see if a license has been issued?

Whatever the case, good luck. I know it is frustrating. Believe me, I remember when I took boards in 2000 ..... the Florida BON web site crashed just as my results were due to be posted. It took the Florida BON almost 3 weeks to get the web site back up. I was in the same boat as you .... I had a job and everything .... they actually let me go to orientation with the promise that if I passed, all was fine, but if I failed I would have to work as an LPN (I was an LPN prior). On the second day of orientation, me and another new employee went into the medical library on our lunch break to see if a miracle had happened and the Florida BON web site was revived. Much to our suprise, it was and my license was posted that day ..... what a relief. Like you, I thought the worst .... the test was very difficult and mine shut off at 75 questions. I thought for sure that it shut off because I had done so miserably. But, I was wrong and I had indeed passed. Of course, that was 4 years ago and now I can laugh about it.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

PS - please note that I reserved my 600th post just for you .... hoping this brings your spirits up. :)

I am honored for the 600th post! Thank you! After reading your post, it sounds like you had quite the ordeal when getting your results.

I still haven't heard or received anything yet. Right now I am thinking no news is good news (no "You failed" letter yet), but I am dreading looking in the mail tomorrow. :uhoh21: I applied directly for a NC license, so MA won't get my results at all, hence no license issued for me there. This is being a big test regarding my patience, but it's really discouraging when a lot of people are getting their results within days and here I am heading on Day 10 of waiting. I guess it could be worse...I could be waiting for results in California.

Anyway, I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. But thank you for checking in on me and there will be a big party if I get good news! It's a learning experience, no doubt. I'll just sit back and continue counting the gray hairs that have appeared in the last 10 days.

Ok - well those that are following this thread are all waiting with baited breath for your results. Isn't it nice to know that others are waiting right along with you? Take care. :)
