GTCC ADN Spring 2015

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

I know it's early but I just couldn't wait any longer for a thread to be started. I took my TEAS test today and passed!!! I've met with the advisor to do my ranking...so I guess it's 3 months of anticipation and hoping I get it. With the new changes in the criteria for the program I can only imagine more people will apply making it more competitive for a seat in the program. Anybody else planning to apply for Spring?

I was under the impression that we would pay for the drug screen $86 and then a deposit (half) for the uniforms. Has anybody gone to the website to take a look at the uniform? I think everything that is required is roughly $200. Is anyone receiving financial aid? I think it covers uniforms to. Also, I was told that all of our books (including uniforms) are all brought in one big package and its roughly $2000.

Has anybody turned in their packet of information yet? I wanted to go ahead and turn it in but I wasn't sure if they taught classes too. I would hate to go over there and they were in the middle of a class

Future RN

I have not turned mine in yet either. I was wondering the same thing. Maybe you might email them and they can tell you. I think they are offices though, not classrooms? I am not sure. I am really worried about getting my 2nd TB done in time. I think you lose your seat if you don't :( I hate my busy work schedule!

Yeah, everything has to be done by Oct 30. Can you go to CVS's mini clinic after work? Or urgent care on the weekends?

Future RN

Yeah I can. I got my first one yesterday, because like a dumby I thought we only had to have a 1 step because I was not aware what a 2 step was. So I get it read tomorrow morning, but then they want me to wait 7 days to get another one...which would not be able to be read until the 31st. So I am waiting on my doctor to call me back to see what he can do. He said he could probably just do the chest xray instead to satisfy the 2 step. I am not sure. I am beating myself up about it that is for sure. I have everything else done :(

The form stipulates with 30 days of each other...didn't stipulate to wait one or two weeks. I however waited two weeks. See if your Dr. Will take that into consideration and just do the second. I would hate for you to get the chest x ray and they not accept it b/c you didn't have a positive PPD to warrant the chest x ray.

Future RN

Yeah, definitely. The doctor told me to wait 7 days to do the second one because the CDC says wait 1-3 weeks. I will see if they will let me do it early. I am hoping they will!

Did anyone call tomake sure that their acceptance cards were recieved? I was reading through the packet of information again and it states we are responsible for making sure that they recieved it. I started freaking out, worried that it may have gotten lost in the mail. Will financial aid pay for the uniforms, books, the background check and the drug screen? I just can't wait for orientation, I am ready to get all the information. :)

I emailed her PLUS sent my card in...wanted to make double sure she knew I was accepting my seat!!! Financial aid will cover everything EXCEPT the drug screening from my understanding. I'm super excited too...also nervous...I hope I do well ;0/

Future RN

Me too!! I am nervous and excited as well. I can't wait to meet everyone. Are you bringing your medical forms on the 30th as well or turning them in sooner?

I work at an urgent care and I asked a few of the PA's that work there about how long a person should wait between getting the 2 tb tests and they said at least 1 to 2 weeks. I do my cpr class tomorrow and hope to turn everything in Friday morning before work. I got my 2nd tb test read today so after cpr I'm done.

I think I'm gonna turn mine in on my lunch break Thursday. I've made two extra copies...my OCD is in overdrive. I'm trying to tame it for nursing school LOL
