HI! I am THRILLED to have found out today that I have been admitted to CCHS to start nursing school in January! Anyone else out there? I will have a full load of prereq's to complete this fall (I have a BS in Biology but because it's 10 years old I have to retake micro, a&p, etc....)

YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

I don't meet the minimum high school GPA, what can I do?

Weber,

Apply for pre-nursing. I did not get into the nursing program, but I did get into the pre-nursing program. I start in August. If you take A&P 1 & 2, Med Term, and college math at their school, and maintain an overall 3.25 gpa you will have a guaranteed spot in their nursing program. You will get this in writing once you have been accepted into pre-nursing.

Specializes in Neuro; ER-Obs.

Congrats charlottegirl!

As an alumni from CCHS, I can say that you are in a great school. Its hard, but so worth it!

Good luck to you!:nurse:

Congratulations charlottegirl!

I, too, am a grad of CCHS (2005). It is a tough course of study. Getting your "other" (non-nursing) classes out of the way first is a great way to go. The nursing class you will have each semester is time consuming enough without another class or 3 on top.

YOU CAN DO IT!

Is it not true that once you have completed pre-nursing you have a one-year wait until you start NS?:nurse:

Hi Bedside Dee.

I just graduated from CCHS (May '08) and I don't think that you have to wait a year. I wasn't in pre-nursing but I know a few girls who finished the required classes for pre-nursing and were able to start the nursing program the next semester.
