Duke ABSN Spring 2018

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hello!

I haven't seen any threads yet about Duke's ABSN program for Spring of 2018 so I thought I would start one to chat with other hopefuls like myself!

Also, if anyone who has previously been accepted into the program, any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! For now, I have a few questions:

- Does anyone know if they weigh all parts of the application equally?

- What is their acceptance rate?

- Any good tips for the personal statements? I'm finding that it's very difficult to articulate why I want to be a nurse without sounding cheesy.

- Where else are y'all applying?

I think that's all for now! I look forward to chatting with everyone!

But! Don't get discouraged if you did not get an invite. I didn't get an invite last application round due to space limitations and I still got waitlisted

I also got an invite for Duke Days. I wish we found out our acceptance decision/financial aid before the event!

Hello all, I received my acceptance today!

Acceptance for Duke Days?

Yes! That is what I meant I apologize

Hello all! I just received my invite as well. I'm quite excited considering this is my second time applying. I applied for the fall semester but was waitlisted. They apparently had an enormous amount of applicants for fall since Duke was voted the number one school for the absn program this year. They didn't even have enough space for the waitlisted people of go to duke days or at least that's what was said. Nora emailed me some time after I was waitlisted and told me I had a good chance for the spring semester, so I'm assuming there were less applicants? Anyways, I just wanted to say hi! Can't wait to meet you guys at Duke days!

I heard those that were waitlisted Fall quarter will get admitted for Spring quarter. My fingers are crossed for you!

Hey everyone! I was also invited to Duke Days! I applied for the fall cohort, but I was waitlisted, and encouraged to reapply. FYI, everyone invited to Duke Days is NOT accepted, some people are still waitlisted. I was waitlisted for the fall and wasn't even invited to Duke Days last go!

Hi All!

Does anyone know (or can speak to) if not going to Duke Days will impact your chances of getting admitted or put on the wait-list (or rejected)? Duke Days is obviously not required, but I am wondering if attending will help your application (or hurt it if you can't attend)?

I got an email that a decision was made but once I went on the website, it says "Decision Not Ready." :( It's obvious that I didn't get accepted or waitlisted since everyone already got their invitation to Duke Days. Congrats to everyone who has moved forward though :) So happy for you.

Where else are you planning to apply JennaAnn23?

I just noticed that my transcripts from one of my schools still hasn't been sent to Duke. Maybe that's why they still haven't made a decision for me.
