Calling any Watts School of Nursing Students!!!

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hi all,

I have posted a few times about my worries on getting into a nursing program and just wanted to share that I got accepted to Watts School of Nursing in Durham. I am so excited and I was wondering if any Watts students (or from other programs) had any advice on how they have gone about financing their education. I never had to deal with financial aid when I got my undergrad a few years ago and Watts is pretty pricey, (about $30,000). I plan to do the tuition reimbursement program with Duke when I graduate but I'm worried about what to do right now. Any advice on financial aid or private loan experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!:heartbeat

I will also be starting my MOC prereqs in JUNE with an entry date into the nursing program at WSON in January and I am very excited. The downside to my situation is that I have all my prereqs except for 1 class that I wont be taking until the later part of this year so I wont get the chance to meet my fellow classmates until the end of the year. I am looking forward to meeting everyone in my class and I hope everyone is just as excited as I am!

i hope everything goes well with school for you. i take the test may 24, does anyone know how long it usually takes to get back your test results?

thanks.since my highschool is about to get out in june do you think that i should go on and get my transcripts early?

doesn't hurt to get everything in order... that way as soon as you find out the results you can apply :)

thank you for your input, i just wanted to let everyone know that i just took my test today,im not gonna lie i was nervous.

mccauleyl- I took my test today-Stressed out to the mAX! I feel pretty confident about the sencond part, the first was a beast!

How do you think you did?

I'm not sure but i hope i did well.

Wow...so much good information on this thread, but I still have some questions for you guys! My fiance and I are planning to move to the Raleigh/Durham area together (he is going to law school after his graduation in the spring of '12). I am currently a student at MOC's traditional location in Mount Olive and have taken most of the prereq's - will I still have to take the entire 18 hours w/ MOC's RTP location before starting my nursing classes? When would be the best time to apply to try and start the nursing program in the summer/fall of 2012? Feel free to PM me with any info or just reply :) Thanks guys!

Hello All!

I am interested in pursuing a career in nursing and I have recently taken the preadmission test for to apply for acceptance at Watts. I am believing and praying that I passed the test!

My question is....

I was just wondering if anyone knows if they are still offering tuition repayment option & job placement program? If not, are most students offered employment upon graduation?

Also, I would be a 2nd degree student if accepted (liberal arts/business) I was just wondering how those students do when transitioning from a completely different field....I know I'm not "old" yet (late 20's), however, I just have some concerns since it's a totally different field.

I was under the impression that it was a certification or license program and not a degree program has that changed? I looked into it a few years ago before I got into my program. Since that was the case I didn't want to go to some place so expensive and then not be able to advance my degree.
