Okay, I know none of us need to be schooled on the detrimental effects of smoking but I just got a link to this article today through Smartbrief (NANN):

One really impressive finding: in the third trimester, an infant loses 20 grams for every cigarette smoked!

Just imagine. . .there are entire generations of people walking around today who were born to mothers who smoked during pregnancy. My birth weight was 8 pounds back in 1981, so perhaps I would have been a 10-pound baby if I hadn't been exposed to cigarette smoke in utero. :)
