Which Borough?

U.S.A. New York

Published

For a new immigrant, foreign educated, Philippine nurse what borough will be the best to work and live at? Brooklyn,Bronx, Queens, Manhattan or Long Island? I am almost at the end of my immigration application and this is the stage where I decide where and how will I start my and my family's life.

I know everyone here has a kind heart so kindly give a piece of your mind and experience.

Thanks in advance!

First, which hospitals have they given you a choice of? I would base my decision on that. Each borough has its good and bad sections, same thing with Manhattan..............

They said that the hospital assignment will also depends on where do I intend to live. They have several openings so I can tell them my preference and they will see what they can do, for as long it is withinn NYC and the five borough plus Long Island.

My "ideal" place will be an affordable/cost efficient apartment/house with relatively peaceful environment (have two young kids) and should be accesible with or without a car. Have a relative in Queens though but cannot live with them since he only has a one bedroom apartment.

Any advice?

im still waiting for news but right now im focusing on passing the nclex altho i get to correspond with your agency once in a while. maybe things would turn out well by the time i pass it. im keeping my fingers crossed.

ill keep this forum posted. :nurse:
