St Vincent Hospital at 12th ST

U.S.A. New York

Published

Just got an offer from St Vincent hospital at 12th St, full time, days. Any body has any idea is it a good hospital to work for? Their pay is not that good, starting salary is around $63000, much less than Mount Sinai and NYP, however I am really looking for a day position at critical care, Mount Sinai and NYP only offered me nights.

Thanks for sharing.

Specializes in SICU, MICU, CICU, NeuroICU.

If the money is important to you, then work nights. If you're there for the experience, go to the better hospital and both hospitals are better than St. Vincent's IMO.

Hi Conrad283, I have an interview scheduled with St Vincents and I was wondering if you can provide me with specifics in regards to the overall working environment for new RNs. I saw your other post and you seem to have an inside view on the place, so any info you can give me will be appreciated.

St. Vincents is a good hospital. They had many sites, but they sold them off. One of which they sold was St.Vincents Staten Island, which is the hospital that I work at. I don't know the specifics of that particular hospital, because I never worked there, only for a sister hospital. Sorry I'm not too much help.

Ok, Thanks for replying

Specializes in OB.

I did my psych clinical at St. Vincent's on 12th St., those units were very well run, it's just a very old hospital in general. The technology isn't that great, they still use paper charting, etc. However, as a new grad, I would take the day shift and run! But it depends on what is important to you.

Specializes in OB/GYN/OR.

Hi

I recently passed the nclex RN ...I am looking for new grad positions and I live near uptown Manhattan...which hospitals do you recommend for experience...

Sorry, I guess I should have said before that I'm still a student! I graduate from NYU in May. The furthest hospital uptown I did a clinical at was NY Presbyterian/Weill Cornell on 68th and York, which is a really nice hospital, very prestigious in terms of technology. I've also had really good experiences at NYU Medical Center, that's my first choice for when I graduate. Hope that was somewhat helpful.
