Reciprocity Question

U.S.A. New York

Straight to the question!

I just passed the NCLEX-RN (California). Haven't registered yet since i do not have a SSN.

But I am considering working at New York. So I need apply for a licensure by endorsement (reciprocity) right?

My big question is, if everything goes well, foes that mean i have a valid license on BOTH states?

Correct...Apply for reciprocity and you will be licensed in both states.

I may be mistaken, but unless you register with California's SBON, you'll only have a NYS license. I thought that you have to possess a registered license in order to apply for licensing by endorsement. If you don't already have a license, don't you have to become licensed by examination (send results to your SBON?)

Correct If no SSN you will not get a license with Ca therefore no license to endorse. Also as foreign nurse you need to do CVS with NY which can take several months, but with retrogression you have atleast 5 years if lucky to get a visa to work in the US as no longer a guarantee due to the high demand especially from the Philippines (that is on current processing date of 2002)
