NYP VS NYU-LMC

U.S.A. New York

Published

I recently got a job offer from NYP to work on a Medical floor/Stepdown Unit. Today , I received an email to interview at NYU-LMC next week for Medical Observation floor.

If I get the job at NYU-LMC, it is going to be a hard decision. What do you nurses from NYC think? NYP or NYU-LMC?

Thanks in advance, would love to hear your opinions!

NYP by far..

congrats!

Both of them are great hospitals....what it boils down to is what you are looking for in terms of your goals. Both seem the route of critical care..if that's your thing then I will say think which one will offer you more. Benefits? Pay? Pension? Tuition reimbursement? Travel time to and from work? Whatever you decide it will be a great decision but a tough one.

All the best and congrats!!!

Thanks for your advice. I formally cancelled in the interview at NYU. I decided to go for NYP. It is a Medical floor with 36 beds which includes 10 step down beds. It sounds like a heavy floor, but at least I have my foot at the door. Right now I work on a heavy medsurg floor, so it is not a HUGE change. They told me to stay here for a little while then I can move on to a full CC Unit. Critical Care is my passion. Would love to work with organ transplant patients in a near future and this is the best place to be.

I hope I am making the right choice ......I am leaving where I work 5 mins away to commute to NYC for a little while until I can move. Its a rough decision.

Thanks again!!!
