NYC Agencies for per diem work?

U.S.A. New York

Hello,

I am new to allnurses and I apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask my question.

Next week I will be starting my very first travel contract job with a hospital in NYC. I just found out, after I signed the contract, that utilities aren't going to be paid & there are going to be other expenses incurred. But, to top it all off, the travel agency will not approve overtime, nor let me work anyplace else. I know that they cannot restrict what I do on my time off & I need to make extra income to make up for the extra expenses, to send home to feed my giant furballs, to pay for trips back to Michigan to visit my husband and the pack of furballs (Newfoundlands) and cover the additional withholding taxes. Are there any per diem agencies in the NYC area that you could recommend I try? I especially am interested in New York Presbyterian Cornell's and Lenox Hill's ER-----By any chance, does anyone know an agency that staffs these hospitals?

Oh, also, any suggestions on must do's for the 3 months I will be in NYC? Kinda scared, kinda excited & thoroughly dissapointed in the travel agency which I will never use again.

Wow that sounds awful! I'm looking into travel nursing...can I ask what agency this is? I'll be staying away from them!

I've been looking at White Glove staffing agency. They are based in NY and say that they staff all NY hospitals. They have per diem assisgnments as well. Their website is: http://www.whiteglovecare.com/

As for NYC, there is so much to do! Have you ever been there before? It's a great place with many essentials. I mean, there are the basics like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and visiting the top of a building (Empire State or Rockefellar Center). There are tons and tons of restaraunts with lots of different cuisines. When are you moving there? If you want, I can totally give you suggestions. I don't live there yet (moving there in July) but my bf lives there and I'm there all the time. Good luck!

I would rather not say right now. However, I did post their name on another topic related to travel nursing. Get in touch with me privately and I will give you the name. Since I have to work for them for the next 3 months, I don't want to get myself in trouble.

Thank you for the agency site, I will check them out. I really appreciate your help.

I will be leaving Sunday, to start on Monday. I went many times to NYC when I was younger to visit my cousins. Only one still lives there and I will get to see her after, oh my, 15 years, gulp. I don't remember having seen Ellis Island, so I will be sure to check that out. And, of course, the restaurants & shopping, if I can make some extra money.
