North Shore -LIJ critical care fellowship

  1. 0 Has anybody applied to the North Shore-LIJ critical care fellowship? If so, how did you apply because I'm having trouble applying online because there are no postings. Just wondering how I can start the process. Thanks for your time, I would really appreciate any help.

    Hi Aroze,

I saw this fellowship on indeed.com and when I went to LIJ website, I found no information on the fellowship. It said the job is no longer available. I am interested in applying as well and hope they will put the post back up. Good luck.

I actually call several times and the HUman Resources operators were not very helpful. They told me to post my resume in their website thats all.

Wow that is extremely unhelpful. Nowadays whenever I call HR for any facility, I am being told just apply online or no new grads. This is so discouraging.

Go to NSLIJ website and look up the email address of *********. She is the one who does the first round of interviews for the program. Send a message stating your interest in the program and ask how you may apply for their next fellowship class. Upload your resume onto the NSLIJ employment website as a general one but include a well written cover letter that shows interest for that specific program.

Or if you want it bad enough and you believe that you would be a competitive candidate actually go to Human Resources and speak to someone there. The front desk persons might have a lot more answers to your questions if your actually there.

    good luck!

** Make sure that you are a serious candidate though. Also, browse this website, browse NSLIJ website and learn the basics about the program. They are all busy people and won't appreciate simple inquiries that they know you could of researched elsewhere.

@I_See_You_RN: I recently interviewed for the SICU Fellowship position at Manhasset and thought it went really well. I've read a few perspectives on some of the other units (mostly at LIJ) and some said they had very negative experiences. Can you give an honest account of your experience in the program. What was the working environment like? Did it really prepare you to be successful on the unit? Did you find your colleagues to be helpful? Ultimately I will make my own decision but I would love to get some insight from someone who has been through it on that particular unit. Also, how long after you interviewed did they offer you the position? Thanks so much in advance!

Hello, I was wondering if you have heard from them since your interview? I also met with the nurse recruiter and did all 3 interviews for a unit @ LIJ. The next round starts next month and I'm freaking out and I know its not the end of world if I'm not selected but its a great opportunity.
oh btw Good Luck to you !!

Hi there! Actually, I did hear back from the recruiter who asked me if I would be interested in Neuro ICU due to large volume of internal candidates in the SICU. I said yes and I had my final interview for the Neuro ICU today. It went well (I think) and I am now waiting to hear back. It really is a great opportunity. I would imagine we should both be hearing something soon (either way) because the fellowship is starting in a few weeks. Try not to freak out too badly and stay positive. Good luck to you also!!

Good luck to you all! I JUST found out about their fellowship and am kicking myself because of it (I'm a new grad desperately trying to get into the ER/ED *fingers crossed*). I called their office today to inquire about the program....the recruiter told me that it begins March 14th and that they are no longer accepting applications, to which I began to cry LOL. She said they MIGHT have another program starting in September, but with all the budget cuts, I'm thinking NO.

I want to know, to those of you who have been called for several interviews for the fellowship commencing on March 14, when did start accepting applications, when did they stop accepting applications, when did they begin interviewing, and what were the requirements (BSN, 3.5 GPA, Letters of Recommendations, Externship, etc)????? PLEASE HELP

In the event that they will have another fellowship, starting in September, I'm assuming that they will accept applications from April onward, and would like to be prepared for it. Also, is this just for new grads with no experience? God willing, I find a job before then, at a hospital or nursing, I don't want to be disqualified if they no longer consider me a new graduate RN.

Hey, don't count yourself out just yet!! At my meeting with the Director of the program she indicated that there is a STRONG possibility of a September fellowship. It is based on need and from what I understand some of the units may be expanding. Now, to answer your questions:
I applied (online application) during the last week of January and was called back the same day and set up an interview for the following week. As far as I understand you do need a BSN and I don't know of any GPA requirements but I will say that my GPA is above a 3.5 so I'm sure that helped. They also require 2 letters of recommendations and I don't have any externship experience so it must not be a requirement. Also, the program is open to new grads as well as experienced RNs who want to transition into a critical care area so I don't think having experience will disqualify you. Hope I was able to answer all of your questions. Lemme know if you have any other questions. Good luck to you!!!

Thanks for the prompt reply! Also, can you tell me who I have to e-mail concerning the september fellowship? I'm looking to do critical care/ER in the future, at Lenox Hill if possible. The name you supplied in your previous post was blocked out. I'd appreciate it if you could PM me with that information.

And good luck to you! Are you part of the cohort that will be working at Manhasset? I heard they only accepted 7 people for the fellowship to work at Lenox Hill in the future.....

So as far as requirements go:
    BSN
    2 letters of recommendations
    College Transcripts

    Anything else? How many interviews?
