U.S.A. New York

Hello everyone!

I graduated in May 2007, passed my NCLEX in August 2007, and plan to start applying as a new RN in various hospitals in Queen and Manhattan. Since I live in Flushing, New York Hospital Queens in Flushing will be one of my top consideration but I don't really know much about this hospital in term of working environment and salary. I will be greatly appricated if anyone can share their experience with NYHQ.

Have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving!

Thank you in advance!!! :balloons:

Hi! I'm doing a travel assignment there right now. The staff is really great to work with, a lot of nice people. Staffing is crazy. I've floated to many med-surg floors- usually you get 9-11 pts per nurse. I have heard consistently that NYHQ is the highest paying hospital in Queens. I think the base pay is 70k. They're building a new building, I think, and staffing is suffering a bit. The staff are some of the hardest working people I've ever worked with.

Hope that helps! :)

Thank you for your reply!

Wow! I cannot believe 9-11 patients per nurse, that seem like a whole lot.

Once again, thank you for sharing!

hello, my friend works there as an lpn, let me ask her!!

if you get information from her, would you please pm me, if it is not a problem for you? i wanted to get a job there as well. i hear they pay their lpns very nicely compared to other places, and i also live in queens. thanks!

the extra 1 grand?? is hardly worth it. most hospitals are starting 69k anyways, plus night diff. you need to think about how safe such a nurse to patient ratio is. we have to think about protecting our licenses as well. no wonder staffing is suffering. that ratio sounds atrocious!
