Nassau VEEB LPN Program?

U.S.A. New York

Hi can everyone who attended or are attending Nassau VEEB LPN Program please give me some insight on this school? Teachers, students, organization, how hard is the program, etc, etc. Thank you.

Unfortunately, I can't offer too much advice on VEEB. I can only say what I've heard. It's a pretty good school. They have a 94% succcess rate in students who take the state board exam.

I am currently in process of attending . I have my pre-entrance interview later on this morning and I am looking forward to starting. The program is 11 months long. Three trimesters from Sept to August. I scored pretty well on my entrance exam so I am hoping as long as I do well on my interview I will be starting in Sept. It sounds pretty good to me.

Specializes in Community Health, Med-Surg, Home Health.

I had VEEB students come to my hospital for clinicals and I had one of their clinical instructors for my clinical where I attended at LaGuardia Community COllege. I heard that it is a very intense program (then again most LPN programs are), and that they have sort of a strange schedule. But, they do have a high percentile that pass NCLEX so, that can't be bad. I know that they used to have an evening course, but heard that it no longer exists. The clinical professor that I had from there was really tough, but, I made it. Best wishes to you on your nursing journey.

Thanks for the insight. If your interested in getting a head start, what books would you recommend to get for the school year. What does the lpn courses consist of you learning??

If anyone knows??

Thanks in advance.

There are two books that I suggest you purchase; Foundations and Adult Health Nursing by Christensen and Kockrow and Delmar's Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-PN. "Foundations" actually covers the entire LPN program in reader-friendly format. It can be ordered from Amazon.com for close to $80, but it is well worth the purchase to use in addition to your textbooks that you will have to purchase. Delmar's Comprehensive Review is also great because it is a summary for all you would study for the state boards (and class as well) and their chapter on pharmacology is really nice...they break the drugs down by catagories and the suffix endings, which make it a bit easier to remember the group of drugs, their use and side effects. I hadn't seen too many pharmacology textbooks break it down that way. Interesting that you mentioned VEEB today...I saw their students at my hospital about 2 hours ago.

Specializes in Nurses who are mentally sicked.

It is a good school...

You are welcome!! Personally, I only knew one clinical instructor that used to work there that began working at my college, and she was one TOUGH person. If she comes back there, I would say she would give the students a run for their money. Also, make sure that you get a good care plan book, because you will be writing them like wallpaper, if the demands are anything similar to what I received from that professor that left them. My careplan book is at home (I am at work, sneaking on the computer), so, I'll try and remember to post the name of the book later.
