U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi, Im a high school senior and Im trying to make my decision on which nursing program to attend. Im from long island and heres where ive been accepted to:

*Molloy - Traditional BSN

*Adelphi - Traditional BSN

*Liu Brooklyn - Traditional BSN

*Hunter College - Pre Nursing

*Queensborough CC - Pre Nursing

*York College (CUNY) - Pre Nursing

*BMCC - Pre Nursing

Please give details on which is the best and how hard each program is and if you attended. I need help making this decision and i have to decide by May 1st!! My concerns tho with prenursing is that i wont get in to the nursing program itself (ex. Hunter) And if anyone knows about the QCC & Hunter College joint program please tell me about it!

I recently seen online some where that BMCC has the number 1 program for nursing... If this helps any

I am a 2012 Lehman graduate ( non-nursing) who is going to be attending a direct entry MSN program in the fall. If I were you I would attend the program where you are in the nursing program. It is too risky at the CUNY. I didn't even get into the nursing program at Lehman and I had good scores ( over 3.7 gpa, a's & b's in prereqs). The tuition price is great at the CUNYs but sometimes having a guaranteed spot in a private university BSN program is better.

I agree. I work with nurses that went to LIU and Adelphi, as well as a nurse whose daughter goes to Molloy, and have heard great things about all of them (moreso LIU). The LIU nurses say that the program is hard work, but they learned a lot, and saw it when they went to board review classes with students from other schools (though of course a lot of this is personal motivation as well). If you're deciding between the private schools, I'd go to the one that gives you the most financial aid. Don't go into too much debt! Also, if you're going to be a commuter student, maybe choose a school that isn't too difficult to get to, especially when classes are really early in the morning, since if you're like me, you won't want to wake up too early to travel an hour to school.
