Help!!!

U.S.A. New York

Hi everyone. I have been accepted into an ADN program in queens. It's called St. Paul's school of nursing. I have just decided to do an ADN program as a back up plan this year. I went to meet with the assistant director and they told me I would have to retake English comp, psychology, intro to sociology. Oh wait I already have a bachelor's and was a psychology major!!! Apparently for them these classes are only good for 4 years. I'm now 25 desperate and cannot afford an absn program at this point since I don't have much financial aid left. Am I wasting my time? I work full time and decreasing hours or quitting my job is not an option for me plus I work at a hospital so I need all the connections I can get. St. Paul's has an evening program so it's the only reason I applied. I am aware that NCc has one but they only admit in the fall and I personally do not want to wait til next fall plus I wouldn't know if I would get accepted. Someone please help. I'm just seeking some advice.

If I'm understanding you properly, it appears as if you don't have many options available.

It sucks to have to retake classes (been there done that), but that's what you'll have to do if you want to remain in the program that you're already accepted to and fits well with your work schedule.

The only other option identified is to wait and apply at the other school, but like you said, you don't know if you'll get in. Getting in is half the battle from my experience so why jump those hurdles again if you're iffy on the strength of your application?

I'm not in or from NY so I have no insight into other programs, but I stick with: retake the classes and stay where you're at.

Good luck :)

Does the school offer CLEP (I think that's what it's called) or life experience credit? I know how hard it can be to get into night programs (that are not bank breakers) here in NY, however, I would try to apply elsewhere. The classes you mentioned you have to retake have no expiration at other schools. I could understand if they were science courses but you already have a degree in psych so that just seems like the school is being greedy. Sorry I couldn't offer too much insight but good luck in whatever you decide.

If you already have a Bachelor's then you should check out the ABSN.

He did say in his financially can't afford Absn

To op

St. Paul's is a okay school. Check nun accreditation though. That being said I know someone who graduated there and is doing well.
