Concordia College - NY -2013

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I just sent off my application for Accelerated Nursing program at Concordia College for the fall of 2013. I'm really excited and nervous. I saw the thread for the fall 2012 was quite active and a few would-be 2013 students had posted to that one so I thought I should start a new one.

Anyway, I would LOVE to hear from any posters on the 2012 thread about how their experience has been going, anyone who is finished with the program, and anyone who is applying like me!

Thanks!!

@Rachpap

in your opinion does concordia offer generous financial aid assist for second degree students. I used very little money in undergrad but I wanted to know if the financial package awarded to majority of the students was enough to cover tution. I'm getting nervous about paying for school now that I have been accepted. I'm also out of state so cost of living is a factor.

Thanks

To all those who have not been accepted and to those who have not yet made a decision on attending Concordia,

Did any of you apply to other schools? I am applying to Pace, College of Mt. St. Vincent and LIU-Brooklyn. I wanted to apply to CNR but they want way to many extra classes ( like economics an a second math class even though I have already taken stats plus the TEAS). If I get into Concordia I am so going there however one can never be to sure. Good luck to those who are waiting for decisions.

I am a bit nervous about my interview on 3/11 but I think I read on here that not even everyone gets an interview so I take a bit of solace in that.

I've applied to Molloy and Mt St Vincent. Taking 2 tests for Molloy tomorrow.

It's hard to say because I don't really know of anyone else's situation but I didn't receive any money from Concordia directly. I met with financial aid to talk about what I may or may not receive from the government and in that sense they were helpful but as for Concordia giving money I don't know that they do that in this program. Don't quote me on that though, it could be need-based.

No problem TKU2. Which state are you coming from?

Hi all, I just joined All Nurses, I recently got accepted to Concordia's accelerated nursing program!! I had some questions for any current or former students about normal day schedule. What time do classes usually start?

That awesome. I would never consider leaving NY to go to nursing school ... because then I would have to get a car.

I hope to see you in the fall.

Twice a week classes start 8:30. I think in our first semester it was 3 days a week. Once clinicals start that's one day a week starting at 7am. Consider this a rough estimate because they split you into groups a and b. group a has a slightly different schedule than my group and they may make changes to your guys schedule but 8:30 is the general start time and you'll learn to be flexible on days when they need to make it a half hour earlier.
