Beth Israel School of Nursing, 2011/2012 Applicants? NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all - I've been reviewing the boards here for a while and thank you all for your detailed responses and information left. This board is awesome and has really helped me calm my nerves with respect to the admissions process at Beth Israel in NYC.

My apologies if a thread of this nature already exists - (i couldn't find one) -- Just wondering if any 2012 applicants are out there?? I am applying to the evening session beginning in January 2012.

I've submitted my completed package and scored an 89th percentile AD on the NLN PAX. I took the computerized version and was able to get my scores back immediately. The anticipation would have killed me otherwise. :nurse:

Anyway, I am eagerly awaiting a call or email from PBISON regarding the next step in the admission process which is the in-person interview. Fingers, Toes, and eyes are crossed!

Is anyone else out there applying for admission to the 2011/2012 entering class? Anyone further ahead in the process, perhaps you've had your interview already? I'm wondering how long to wait from the time I submitted my scores to the time of following up w/ the admissions board... I'm thinking 2 weeks is fair.?

Any comments welcome. Thanks in advance - and good luck!

Thanx. I just read the story of the girl that got accepted with 126 nln and gpa 3.0 so i keep hope and my fingers crossed.:D

so it means that I have a chance since I got a 95 on composite score??? But they ask for a percentile composite score right??

In order to be considered for admission into Phillips Beth Israel school of Nursing, candidates must obtain a minimum composite percentile score of 55 in the "AD”

(Associate Degree) column under “Percentile Norms”. It is strongly recommended that you allow yourself adequate preparation time prior to taking the test so that your score can appropriately reflect your knowledge in the subject areas tested. The National League for Nursing will not score more than one Pre-Admission exam per examinee within a 6-month period.

This is what got me so confused????? i have a percent composite of 44% and composite score of 95!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!!! this is killing me anyone please tell meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stole, I think your score means you did better than 44% of the people taking the test that are applying to the AD program. It also means that 66% of people scored higher than the 95 composite score.

Someone please correct me if Im wrong

good luck to you!!

There are some things I want to mention on here. When I took the NLN at PBI, I walked around and saw a white board with statistics of the school on it. It mentioned the number of applicants, the graduation rates and pass rates of the NCLEX, and some other stuff I don't remember.

I remember seeing that there were 1000 applicants in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Under 2011, it said 1000+. This was March 5th. When I called **** two weeks ago to confirm my application was complete, she said she received 800 applications on the closing day, April 1st.

That would mean there is over 1800 people applying this year. I might be wrong.

@stole238 I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this means that you must score in the 55th percentile or higher to be considered by the school. A percent composite of 44 is below the minimum requirement for PBISON admission. Call the school if you want to make sure.

@ownie So far only you and me have been interviewed, plus one pending. The good new is 90% of people who make it to that milestone get accepted (I asked :D). The earlier you get it the better too, since they admit students on a rolling basis.

Thank you all for the info., but I wont give up on it ill do it again it will not forgive myself if I quit after completing all pre req. With a gpa of 3.0 I will not. I might see u next year again congratulations to all and good luck!

wow!! thats a lot of applicants. i scored 130, i thought that might be okay but if you do the math 180 applicants scored at or above 130.

aspiring did you have your interview yet? anyone one with a score of around 130 get called?

But I don't know abt that because when I called last week they told me that only 300 were fully completed and 150seats were available

Hey guys....i just remembered that i forgot to put my references and employees in the appl but i have my letters of the recommendations for them. Do you think they threw out my application!!!!!

Hello everyone!

I had my interview and I was asked all the questions that a person above said we should prepare for. I was a bit nervous but I was confident enough to answer everything. however I did make a mistake and I am still thinking about it. perhaps she did not think I did this mistake and I am freaking out for no reason.

When *** explained what I needed to score under AD on the right side of the paper -thats where you need a score a 55 percentile overall-have in mind though that school like NYU tell you-that they accept a minimum gpa od 2.5 lets say for exmaple-however, do you really think they accept this score? no. its a minimum-just like they say a class must have a C grade in order to transfer-do u think they want to see such gpa or grades? no...basically thats just a grade they have but if everyone scores in the 90s then they will look at 90s first-understand? a 55 is the minimum that can get in-but if inidividuals (most of them)actually get in the 90s and 80s then scoring a 55 doesnt meant much....UNLESS of course you have an explanation or a wonderful completed portfolio-thats just what i think. So dont freak out about the 55 in each section I think its on the overall....minimum should be 55 and this is MG told me pointing on the paper that under AD composite percentile it should be such score.

Who interviewed the others that have been interviewed? I love how the school cares about their applicant and they really look at verything. the grade on the nln hep you stand out but then they see your resume-have you been involved in volunteer work? what was your essay about? they are interested (very) in you! they give you time!

I hope I made a good impression and that I only made my portfolio better, the committee witll meet May 3 or 2nd and they will make final decision. I am happy not worried, but worried (hahaha dont make sense) about the final decision.

I wish you all that want this badly a very very good luck!!!!!!!! I know it is stressful! but we will be fine! Jayzelena did not score in the 90s. got rejected, called and got in! so we all should have faith that we will hear good news!

i apologize for all the typos...i am very tired and i know i dont make sense. my fingers also hurt wen I type!
