Beth Israel School of Nursing, 2011/2012 Applicants? NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all - I've been reviewing the boards here for a while and thank you all for your detailed responses and information left. This board is awesome and has really helped me calm my nerves with respect to the admissions process at Beth Israel in NYC.

My apologies if a thread of this nature already exists - (i couldn't find one) -- Just wondering if any 2012 applicants are out there?? I am applying to the evening session beginning in January 2012.

I've submitted my completed package and scored an 89th percentile AD on the NLN PAX. I took the computerized version and was able to get my scores back immediately. The anticipation would have killed me otherwise. :nurse:

Anyway, I am eagerly awaiting a call or email from PBISON regarding the next step in the admission process which is the in-person interview. Fingers, Toes, and eyes are crossed!

Is anyone else out there applying for admission to the 2011/2012 entering class? Anyone further ahead in the process, perhaps you've had your interview already? I'm wondering how long to wait from the time I submitted my scores to the time of following up w/ the admissions board... I'm thinking 2 weeks is fair.?

Any comments welcome. Thanks in advance - and good luck!

urgh! i just typed a msg and i lost it. anyway :spam: [first time using icons and spam it is] -i got my SCORES in the mail and i did better than i thought i did. that was my concern above. basically i THINK but please correct me if wrong i look at the composite percentile" and at the " composite score" correct? i got in the 90s for the AD and in the 130s for the composite score. i am worried though-now we wait.

i did below a 3.0 in college-a great university though

and i did prereqs but got Bs and no As ever. i think once in my undergrad. I also applied to Lich and that school at least admisnistration-seems crazy. is anyone else applying there? does anyone know how many spots are available in the evening or atop program. argh!

what do u guys think about my score? also i got lowest raw score in the science..and sciece ad in the 70s. i hope they dont think i cant do nursing.

in my ba program i took psychology and didnt get a grade that will transfer (basically bad) do you guys think that if i clep this it will transfer. -assuming i pass it? if you guys get a chance to speck to the schools *** please ask this question or let me know if anyone else is doing this.

for the atop or evening program i need to clep psych (as i explained above), and i need ethics. anyone else in my boat. any other active threads? this one is slow lol

anyway i was relived to see my "composite percentile score for ad" in in the 90s>>>>this is what i should be looking for correct? also i took test on the 23rd and got the score today. i guess it got to my house saturday or friday.

your science is amazing! you are well balanced. do you have a ba? what was your percerntile. i think you did greta

LadyNurse: It took that long to get your NLN scores back? AH! I was hoping it would be a much shorter wait... I just took it this past weekend. I hope I did well enough for an interview, I'd love a chance to make my case :)

How is everyone? Anyone get called or contacted yet? Please let me know! :0)

I received my acceptance letter today for the traditional program! Now I have to mail back the Student Data Form with a $200 deposit. Additionally I'll have to undergo a background check and drug screening process.

I am thinking about switching to the ATOP program depending on how much financial aid I get.

Good luck to all!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!:yeah::yeah:

Thats amazing. I'm still waiting, hopefully they will call me for an interview.:redbeathe

Sulo, with your GPA and NLN score why didn't you apply to a BS program?:nurse:

I received a call for an interview today. This interview is today! *** called and apologized for the short notice but I am not complaining. I will post the details of my application story later today. Good luck all.

I got an interview. I will post results later. Sulo did you get an interview or just an aomatic acceptance? what questions weryou asked! how did you dress?! Who is applying for the atop? has yone received anymore info about atop?oes anyone know the schele for next year? thanks!

@ladynurse11 I kinda have my heart set on that school because of its awesome reputation and high NCLEX pass rate. Also I plan to become a NP so whether I get my BSN or ADN I will still have to continue my education for a few more years.

@aspiring_nursing Most of your questions have been answered in this thread (see page 2). You can ask about ATOP during your interview and I'm sure they will answer all your questions. I am in a bit of a hurry so forgive me for being so terse.

Aspiring you got an interview!! Thats awesome, when and how did they contact you? When are you interviewing?

Ownie !! Thats Crazy, but good for you. Can't wait to hear the details of it. Hope it went well

Hello all. I had an interview today at PBISON. This is my story:

I applied to PBISON in February. I took the NLN on March 5th and it took three weeks to receive the scores. I suggest everyone to take the computerized version, it will save you some sanity. I received (in the AD column) 93eng, 98mat, 97sci. The interviewer was mainly pleased at the science score. I feel as if the book helped me in English and math, but I feel the science section was not that great of a way to prepare for the exam.

I have a GED and a full semester of classes withdrawn from three years ago. I took the usual A&P, psychology, etc. this year and received all As for a 4.0 gpa. The interviewer was pleased with this but asked about my previous withdrawals and what happened in high school that I had to get a GED.

Also, I do not have the biology (A&P apparently does not count as biology) and chemistry prerequisites. The interviewer was really helpful regarding this issue. She told me that I could not attend PBISON unless these were done. She then informed me that I can take online classes and fulfill these requirements in time for August (thats when PBISON classes begin, I believe), and that would be perfectly acceptable. If these were not done, my acceptance would be deferred until next year.

Last and certainly not least, I was informed that there is one thing that could greatly help my chance for acceptance, and that was volunteer work at a hospital or nursing home. She said that the acceptance committee is meeting in May 2nd and that I should immediately start the proceedings of volunteering and to email her proof of that before May 2nd.

My interviewer was such a nice lady. I cannot emphasize this enough. She thoroughly answered my questions, explained to me how the school worked and what I needed to do to get me a seat. I could not have asked for a better interview. Right now, I'm on cloud nine.

Tomorrow is another story. My community college has summer classes and open seats for biology and chemistry. My backup plan is to use the online courses. I was told that MG has extensive knowledge on online schools. I am going to call her to make sure I have a backup plan because I really want to attend PBI come August. Also, I am applying to volunteer at a nursing home that is a few blocks from my house.

I want to thank the people who have posted in this thread. I hope and pray that we meet in person come September. And thanks especially to Jayzelena, a previous year's applicant. Your constant harassment of*** and posting has comforted and inspired many people grueling it out in this waiting game.

Good luck everyone.
