Not sure if this is the right place for this kind of discussion. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm April, 19 and will be attending laguardia this fall as a freshman. :unsure:I'm not in the clinical phase yet, so I believe the school consideres me an Undeclared Health major until I do reach it. Just wondering is anyone starting out at laguardia as well and perhaps we could get to know each other. :D

Hi everyone!

Just one more days and we are going to know our results! Good luck for everyone!

Hi I need help and was hoping you guys could give me your best advice. I am a freshman at lagcc and a undeclared nursing student. I took ENG 101 and SSY 101 the first semester and I got a B- and a C. :( I was thinking of retaking SSY 101 but I'm not sure if I can. I am currently in Session II of the fall term and I'm taking MAT 120 and ENG 102 and working for A's in both. In total that is only 12 credits for the Fall term. For the spring term I was planning on taking SCB 203 SSY 240 SCN 195 and for Spring session II I was planning on taking SCB 204 but in total that is only 13 credits and I need to complete at least 30 credits a year in order to receive full tuition coverage from the excelsior scholarship. Im stressing over this and I don't know what other classes I can take to fill in the spots. I can't really add hard classes though because then the work load would be too much. Anyone have any suggestions??? I still have to take CHEM 110 and Microbiology. Is Chem 110 doable if I take it together with SCB 204? Please if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please say something. Thank you! :'(

U can combine any easy classes other than your major classes and become full time. And Fafsa will pay full. Bye the way, with C u have very low chances to get into the RN if u don't get at B+ in SCB 203 and Chem 110. In this case, u may try to do LPN.

did you get accepted?

Im currently reviewing for my TEAS exam this upcoming Feb what should I focus on what did you guys do? Any help.

focus on anatomy and physiology and english if it isnt your primary language or if you have difficulties.

Ok so Spring session 1 is coming up in two days. I'll be taking A&P 1, and chemistry. In session 2 I'll be taking A&P 2. Nervous because these are rigorous classes and From the bad experience of attempting A&P 1 back in Fall session 1, which I ended up withdrawing from. I'll apply for candidacy for Fall 2018 sometime before the May deadline. So far I got an A in: SSY 101, ENG 102, & SSY 240. I have a B+ in ENG 101, and a B in MAT 120. So my gpa is at a 3.660. I took my Teas exam and got a 64.7%. My reading section was: 78.7%, my math was : 84.4% , science was : 34% and English and language usage was : 75%. So I'll have to retake the teas because I didn't get the science requirement grade. Hopefully with some studying, and taking two science classes it'll build up my science knowledge. For those who took A&P 1 and 2, what did you guys dissect? It's been a while since you guys posted that you were waiting for results, did you guys get accepted?

I got accepted. It will be little hard for u with A&P and Chemistry at the same time. Try to do well as much as possible because next semester it's gonna be very hard to get in. I already saw some of the students who have strait gpa 4. Competition is very high in upcoming semester. So u better prepare for A&P and chemistry. And without completing the A&P u should not have taken the teas. Most of the science part comes directly from A&P book. So focus on that.

My advisor was the one who recommended me taking the teas in January/February. Even if I get an A in A&P 1 and 2 and in Chemistry my gpa will only go up to a 3.788. If I get denied with that, guess I'll just have to switch majors.

Don't give up. Just try, u never know! And prepare well for the next teas. One more thing buy one of the teas A quiz test from Ati website, it will also help u.

Did you dissect a rat for anatomy? Was there a rat per person or were you in pairs or something? I'm kind of nervous about dissecting, I can't even look at the images of a rat in the dissection atlas. I don't want to receive a bad grade because I can't overcome my fear of opening up an animal. I've seen human dissection and I feel fine. I just can't get over animals, especially rats.

April,

Yes there will be a rat dissection in groups not individual for 204 and a sheep heart dissection for 203. It's not that bad. Just the smell of formalin is bad. Now, depends on the professor if he/she will allow you to just watch your groupmates do the dirty work but my professor did allow students to watch if they didn't want to touch the rat. However, the dissection kit is a must I believe, even if you dont plan on participating. But it will be in your best interest to participate and dig into the rat's internal organs and the sheep's heart as they can be confusing in the practical exam. Make sure to take a lot of pics/videos and watch videos in youtubes because it helps alot. I am now waiting for the health science department to announce who got in or not in program. I am currently taking microbiology and thank god the semester is almost over. Hopefully I get in. My grades are AnP1 = A, AnP2 = A, Chem= A, Eng 101 = B, Eng 102 = A-, Mat 120 = A, and fishing for an A- to A for Micro and my teas was 68.9%. I really hope I get in and so do you. Goodluck!
